CHAPTER 31

"hey... baby? why are you crying hmm?" Joy asked the little girl who's sitting alone far from the playground she looks so sad it breaks her heart, the child ignored her, so Joy tried to sit next to her and held her tiny hand into hers

"you know I used to be lonely when I was like your age...." she uttered making the little girl stop and look at her confuse "I am Miss Park... and you are?" she smiled the biggest making the little girl wipe her tears away from her cheeks

"I'm sa mi."

"so, do you like to play with me and-?"

"aren't you too big to play with a kid like me?" the little girl uttered making Joy amused she seems really smart and she talks so well at her age

"well first of all I am one of the music teachers here I teach the grade 1 students"

"but I'm in preschool..."

"why don't you play with your classmates then?"

"I don't like them" she muttered looking down the ground Joy feels so sad seeing the little girl's tears falling down her cheeks again,

"hey don't cry..." Joy pulls her into a hug but Sami pulled away slapping her hands and she walks away from Joy not caring at all... Joy clicks her tongue the little girl seems so sad she just can't stop thinking about her...

"So, how's your first day Miss Park?" Mr. Shin uttered as he tries not to laugh, he just saw what happened, Joy sighs and bowed to him

"hello Mr. Shin"

"no need to bow every time you see me it makes me awkward..."

"bu.-"

"I insist!"

"okay..." Joy agreed averting her eyes from Peniel and glance to the little girl who is now sitting by the tree alone with her hands crossed looking angry

"is that little kid new here?"

"oh, she's here since pre-school..."

"is she always that lonely?"

Before Peniel answered the bell rings so he just smiled at her and gestured her to go... the whole day made Joy overwhelm with happiness... not only that this is her first job after graduating in college but this is also her dream... ever since that day at the hospital where her world crumbled down she stop dreaming being a doctor... she stopped living her life from that day on, but her friends never left her especially V and Irene they've been there all the way helping her through... she got her degree abroad with the help of her friends, that made it all possible.. it's been 5 years since that awful day yet she still remembers it like it was yesterday.

she inhales and closes her eyes trying to hold everything in... she couldn't let it win, she has been feeling this way ever since it broke her deep inside... but she never tells her friends... she didn't want to bother them with all her depression, with every effort they made for her she knew she has to be strong... she knew her decision might be wrong coming back to Korea is a mistake but wanting to see her brother again made her number one priority.... she has to find him...

a loud cry heard from the hallway making every kid in her classroom run to peek who it was... Joy startled didn't know what to do, she opens her door seeing one of the teacher's trying to pull Sami inside the classroom... her heart immediately clenched at the scene. she couldn't take it...
