CHAPTER 40

seeing how Sami smiles and interacts with her, gives an eerie feeling in his heart, she could have been hers. Sungjae didn't know why he is feeling that way, but somehow it was giving him goosebumps. He shakes his head walking slowly away from Sami's room. He left them there for awhile trying to figure out why did he have to do this? he walks back and forth in the kitchen trying to figure out what to say after the tutor session is over. Does he need to bring her back to her apartment? Could he ask her? could he really ask her? all the questions that were left unanswered? didn't he do this for some entirely different reason? he checks the clock it's already 8 pm he wondered, why aren't they done yet? he checks to peek in Sami's room. Joy tickling Sami in her bed. 

"ahem..." he interrupts both of them, snapping joy from her little bubble and now she's stiff again. 

"Daddy!" Sami screams hugging her father between his legs. he patted her head bending down to her level 

"so what did you learn today?" he asked Sami leading her out from the room. he didn't want to talk to Joy at that moment, somehow the atmosphere between the both of them was getting intense by the moment. Joy scoffs at him and she started to stare at her old room. why? she thought to herself. Why the hell is he living in her old apartment? it's small and it only has two rooms, a small kitchen across the living room and that's it. she huffs remembering her brother. she wanted to cry, but she realizes it's already passed 8 pm she sighs and started to gather all her things into her bag, as she goes out Sami's room she sees eunkwang's old room, she stood there by the door glancing the room before leaving. She inhales deeply she didn't want to cry there. She started to walk and stops by the kitchen, she watches Sungjae scooping some pizza from the pizza box handing it down to his daughter she squeals taking her plate handing it to Joy 

"eat!" she demanded cutely making Joy want to chuckle. 

"no baby you should it now. I am going home now." she declared and the latter pouted 

"but you should eat first," she whines "Appa..." she was pleading for help, but Sungjae just glares at her. 

"let her be Sami.. she's done her job," he uttered smugly trailing back his eyes down to the pizza trying to conceal whatever feelings he has been feeling lately. his original plan was to retaliate and make her life miserable.  

"I should go. bye. " she waves as she makes her way to the foyer and started to leave the apartment. 

"teach!" Sami came after her handing her some pizza now neatly wrapped in a plastic container 

"thank you!" she gladly accepts it but she couldn't help but to glance to see if Sungjae was there but he was not. 

"oh and teach... please don't mind my father okay? he's just a sad person." Sami uttered sadly. waving her goodbye.

Joy sighs living the apartment, She wanted to ask him, why? she shakes her head seeing Irene's coffee shop by the corner. she smiled heading to her friend "eonnie!" 

"oh, my Sooyoung! what are you doing here?" Irene uttered taking off her apron and she approaches Joy. 

"I miss this place" Joy uttered sadly. somehow Irene knew Joy is being emotional again thinking about her brother. 

"didn't I told you? not to be sad? now we have a lead to your brother's whereabouts we just need some time" 

"I know... but-"
