Ben's P.O.V.

The ship landed at the Resistance base with a thud. My dads ship. I've been told my mother's health has been declining since the start of the First Order.

"Hey, when we get off the ship stand behind me, I'll explain for you and you can speak if you want but they've lost their friends and loved ones fighting your army. We don't want to alarm them, just keep calm and don't provoke them." Rey says to me, trying to ease my nerves.

I wouldn't be surprised if I got shot with a blaster, or someone punched me, threw things at me. I just want to see my mom before she goes. I know she's holding on to say goodbye.

The ships door opens and everyone walks out to meet their friends who survived. There's hugging and people kissing and cheering. I don't think they've noticed me yet. Rey grabs my hand and laces her fingers with mine and squeezes. A man comes running up to her with a huge smile on his face and then stops in front of her when he sees me.

"Po I know what you're thinking, but don't freak out. He's not going to hurt anyone, okay?" Rey says to the man, evidently named Po.

He stares at me with skepticism in his eyes, "Did you hurt her? Do you have some sort of mind control over her what's going on?"

"No I didn't hurt her I'm not controlling her mind. My mother, your general, I need to say goodbye." I say to him.

Rey lets go of my hand and hugs the man, "I'm glad you made it out. Ben helped me defeat the chancellor. If it weren't for him I would be dead. He's a good man Po, trust me."

They break from their hug, which made a fire erupt in my stomach. I don't know this man enough to be okay with that but it's her decision. I trust her.

"I can take you to her. Don't pull anything we've got a bunch of people here who would like to see you dead. Did you have anything to do with that attack on us?"

"I did at the beginning. But after Rey and I fought on the Death Star something changed in me. I raced to her to help stop it." I answered honestly.

He looked at me and waved for us to come with him, Chewie, Lando, and Finn followed. Rey grabbed my hand again as we walked through the crowds of people, to my mother somewhere in this base. I can feel her presence here.

After a few minutes of walking through hallways and down a flight of stairs Po brings us to a closed door. "She's in here, I'm not sure if she's awake right now but go ahead and go in."

I close my eyes and open the door, she's laying on the bed, eyes closed, breathing ever so slightly. Her eyes open. She knew I was here. "Ben?" She asks

"Yes mom it's me." I rush to her bedside and put my hand on hers, she's cold. "Rey did you bring him here?" She asks again.

"Yes, Leia. He helped me defeat the chancellor. He saved my life, I owe him immensely." Rey answers.

"And she saved mine." I added. I watch my mom smile at us, she knows how we feel about each other. "I saw dad, he told me that you guys will be okay? I didn't want to go but Rey needed me and I couldn't leave her. Are you guys going to be okay?" I ask, tears swelling in my eyes.

"Yes, son, were going to be just fine. I'm so happy I have you back, my beautiful boy. Make her happy Ben." She tells me.

"I will mom I will. I promise. I love you mom." I tell her, fearing spilling from my eyes, "I'm sorry I wasn't a good son. I'm going to do everything to make up what I've done and who I've hurt."

"You already have son. Chewie, look after him will you?" Chewie roars, "Anything for you Leia."

"I love you all, I'm proud of you. Thank you Rey, for bringing back my son."

The droids in the room are sitting at the end of her bed, Chewie and I on either side of her, Rey next to me. Finn and Po stood next to Chewie with Lando by their side as well.

"May the force be with you all, always."

And just like that she was gone.
