In which the losers meet marnie for the first time.
Sylvia ran around the house, cleaning every single corner. Rick sighed, seeing his wife stress clean sure brought back memories. "Hun, calm down, okay?"
"How do you want me to be calm when they're going to be here any second?!" Sylvia scrubbed the marble counters. She then heard several cars pull up and groaned. "I didn't clean the stove!"
Nancy ran down the stairs with a bright smile on her face. "Mom, calm down. They don't care if the stove is clean." She opened the door and ran to her friends. "Did you all have a nice flight?"
"The food could've been better. Service? We don't want to talk about that. Nice place you got there, nance." Bill looked around.
Nancy had bought a house away from all the buildings and noises. She preferred the quiet part of Washington. Her house was practically hidden in the forest, but she loved it. "Thanks, it's just my parents, me, the dog, my baby and sometimes the nanny."
"Speaking of your baby, Where's that little sucker? I want her to know who the cool uncle is." Richie stuck his hands into his pockets.
Nancy told them to follow her. She brought them inside the house, where rick and sylvia greeted them with smiles and hugs. "Look at you all! You're adults! Time sure flies when you-"
Rick cut off his wife. "Drink."
"Okay, next room!" Nancy took her friends into Marnie's play room. As she opened the doors to Marnie's play room, annie was finishing up cleaning.
"Uh, nance? That's a whole ass adult. I don't think you can call her a baby..." richie said confused by the adult standing by Nancy.
"Rich, this is the nanny. Before you leave, I left your paycheck with my mom. You can grab it from her." Nancy nodded at annie.
"Hey, you're Richie tozier, right? You do stand up?" Annie asked richie.
"Yeah, you watch my stuff?"
"No, but my friends dad does. But then again he's divorced, has no job and broke."
The losers didn't say anything. That didn't last long for Richie. "Well he sounds like a lovely guy. I'd love to meet him someday."
"Marnie is up in her playground. She refuses to come down. Maybe you can talk her down?" Annie asked nancy. She pointed up at a small playground that Nancy had installed inside Marnie's playroom when she was younger.
"Yeah, I'll try. Thanks again." Annie left after saying her goodbyes. "Okay, guys, I wanna show you my baby." Nancy smiled at her friends. Nancy went over to the playground, standing beside a yellow slide. Nancy tapped three times on the slide, waiting for an answer.
"Are you talking in Morse code with your daughter?" Richie raised an eyebrow.
"Wait for it." Nancy groaned at Richie.
After a few more taps, the losers were greeted by a small human sliding down with a blue stuffed bear in her hands. "Guys, this is Marnie. My daughter." Nancy introduced them.
Bev was the first one to walk towards the shy child. Nancy had of course told them that marnie was deaf. Bev stayed up late nights learning sign language for the girl. She didn't regret any of it.
'I'm beverly. But you can call me bev.' Bev signed to marnie.Marnie looked up at her mom, who nodded at the young girl. 'I'm Marnie. I like your hair.' Marnie signed back.
"that's the most beautiful shit I've ever witnessed." Richie let out a chuckle.
"Uh richie, she can read lips. She doesn't like curse words." Nancy warned.
Ben stepped up and crouched down next to bev. 'My name is ben. I like your bear. What's its name?'
Each loser introduced themselves in sign language to marnie. The young girl couldn't believe that she was actually having a conversation where she felt comfortable. Even richie cracked a few kid friendly jokes in sign language.
"Well ones things for sure." Mike said to nancy.
"And what's that?" Nancy asked.
"Stan and eddie would've loved her."
An: the losers learning sign language just for marnie made me soft y'all have no idea!!
