I decided on not opening the note just yet, I was going to save it for some day when I was grown up and hardly remembered him, reading his note wasn't going to help my forget him.

But did I really want to forget him? I decided I much rather would here what the note said in person, or at least by phone.

I dialed his number. One ring... Two rings... Three... four... five.

"You have reached Tanners phone! Sorry, I'm busy right now, but please call me back or leave a message!" His answering machine said. I hesitated at first but left a quick message.

"Um... hi. It's Carissa. Call me back?" I assured myself that he would call.

I started staring out my window. I hadn't noticed before but out older neighbor had there house for sale. I ran down the stairs.

"Hey mom? Im going to the neighbors!" I called, grabbing my sweater. I rushed out the door and ran to the neighbors house.

The for sale sign had a sold sticker. I had always loved the neighbor's house. It was about the size of out house, tan and had a pool. Ive always been curious about what its looked like in the inside, but Ms. Nickoles, the neighbor would never let me in.

Ms. Nickloes was a mean, old lady who was retired and a widow. That was all I knew about her.

I knocked on the door and a women, no older then 40 opened the door.

"Hi! Im the neighbor! Are you moving in?" I asked the girl.

She snorted. "I'm the daughter of the previous owner of the house, Ms. Nickoles. What can I do for you?" she asked, formally. I hated when people were formal around me.

"Why is Ms. Nickoles moving?" I asked.

"My mother died a few days ago, last week sometime." she said nonchalantly.

"Sorry for you loss?" I said, more of a question then a statement. She shrugged. "Do you need any help with packing? Im a hard worker and I'd love to see the inside of the house!" She stayed silent for a moment, thinking.

"Fine." she said, opening the door a little wider. "but don't expect to get paid. I have everything packed, I just have a few more boxes to put in the moving truck, it should be here any moment."

As if on queue, a moving truck drove into the drive way. When she said a few boxes, she meant a few as in 60-90 more boxes! I called my friend Mina over to help.

"So you ready to tell me why you were so... out of it yesterday?" Mina asked. "or am I going to half to wait till we are in nursing homes to find out?"

I sighed and lead her to a rather large box. "Lift on three... one... two... three" I instructed, avoiding the subject.

It only took 2 hours, surprisingly to get all the boxes packed. Ms. Nickoles daughter was that bad. And in the end she gave us both $200 each, but she was a rich lawyer and could afford tossing money around like that.

I went home that night and checked my phone, no missed calls or messages. I sighed and turned my phone off, and slept.

The next 2 weeks were a blur, the days were all the same; school, home work talking with Mina, hanging in my hot tub, sleep. Things were just... dull... with out him.
