A few days later I got water bills, phone bills, and all other kinds of bills. "Tanner I dont think we can do this." I admitted.
"Nonsense! We are almost out of High school Carissa, we can sell the house and go to collage. We just need to hang in there for a month. Its going to be fine like I keep saying!" He flashed me a smile. His blue-green handsome eyes were focused on my brown dull eyes.
I often wondered how I had him as my amazing boyfriend. He was caring, sweet, cute, sensitive, selfless, optimistic, kind, and... well... unique. There was truly no one like him.
And I was well, me. And average girl, not what they would call 'pretty' at all, and I am nothing special.
His phone buzzed from across the table. It was another text from his mom. "Are you still not talking to her?" I asked quietly.
"Not yet." He answered. He never told me what happened between them. Only that she didn't care.
"Tanner, you can stay here as long as you need to stay away from her but you really need to talk to her soon!" I told him. He just ignored what I said and turned off his phone.
A few weeks later and it was graduation. Honestly, it was boring. Sitting and 'listening' to people speak, waiting your turn to get a piece of paper that said you survived high school. Yay.
I invited Tanners mom to graduation. He wasn't to happy about that but I told him that he had to talk to her sometime.
He sighed and nodded. "I guess your right."
I laughed. "Of corse I am!" I told him, smirking.
Almost as if on queue, his mother came up to us.
"Tanner! Im so proud of you! My little boy all grown up!" She smiled.
He shrugged. "Thanks."
"He is pretty amazing!" I said, laughed nervously and took Tanners hand.
His mother gave me a nasty look. "Still together I see?"
I could feel Tanner stiffen next to me. I nodded. "Of corse!"
His mother sighed in response. "And what about college? Are you going to last in a long distance relationship?" She smirked.
"Oh! Actually we are both going to attend the Disney College Program!" I said cheerfully.
She glared at me. She was so mad you could practically see smoke coming out of her face. Her eyes tightened and she scrunched her nose. She pursed her lips. Her pulled back hair, slightly visible wrinkles, and expression made her look a little bit like a dragon. I decided that I didn't like her. I smirked.
I could REALLY annoy people if I TRULY wanted to. And I really wanted to get under her skin.
I smiled wider. "Tanner?" I said. I gave him a look that let him know what I was doing.
"Yes love?" He asked, smirking a bit.
"My ankle is hurting me and I'm SO thirsty would you mind carrying me over to the punch?" I asked, looking innocent.
His mother cleared her throat. "I don't see anything wrong with your ankle!" She told me.
"Well how would you know?" I snapped.
"Your standing on it just fine!" She blinked widely at me, confused.
"Oh!" I hung onto Tanner's shoulder and stood on one leg. "Late reaction I guess!"
"Oh Princess! Of corse I can carry you!" Tanner acted shocked and concerned as he picked me up bridal style.
"Oh Thank You my Prince!" I gushed. I kissed his cheek and played with his hair as he carried me off to the punch.
"WHY THAT LITTLE-!" His mother practically screamed from behind us. She faded into the crowd. Once she was out of sight we both started laughing.
"Shes terrible!" I said between laughs.
Tanner nodded. "Was it just or did my mother look like a dragon to you to? She was so mad!" He laughed again.
"I thought the same thing!" I smiled. "Well she can never get between us."
"Never" he repeated, firmly.
"Tanner... You can put me down now..." I laughed.
He shook his head. "Nope! I bet your ankle is still hurting!" He teased. "Plus, I like carrying you!" He smiled.
He carried me to the place were we could return our graduation cap and gown before taking me to the car.
I sighed. "We are actually out of high school!" I gave a light laugh. "Can you believe it?"
Tanner shook his head. "Seems like just yesterday I met the most beautiful girl in the world." He admitted.
"Who?!"
"You!" He laughed. "I love you, princess."
"I love you to." I said, smiling.
