Chapter 17

The next day was Saturday! Which means....NO SCHOOL! Tanner had already texted me at 9:00 but I kinda slept in.... I glanced at my alarm clock, 11:00?! Jikes!

I rubbed my eyes a few times before reading the text:

Tanner: Morning! What do you think about going to the beach? Text me when you wake up!😊

Me: Morning! The beach sounds great actually!

I waited for him to reply while I started to get my stuff for a beach day! I got my swimsuit, my boogie board, suntan lotion, and a beach towel.

Tanner texted me back a few moments later saying:

Tanner: Awesome! Ten minutes enough to get ready?

Me: ya! See ya😉!

I put my hair in a messy beach bun, threw on some knee length shorts and tossed on my Mickey and Minnie shirt with hearts that I LOVED!

I told my mom I was going to the beach with Tanner and she got confused. "I thought you were ignoring this guy, isn't that why you wouldn't come down yesterday?" She asked.

I gave her a dreamy smile. "well that was yesterday, we talked last night and... well I guess we are just friends for the moment." I explained. "So can I go?!"

She gave an exasperated sigh. "Okay." she said. I gave her a hug.

"Thanks mom!" I yelled as I grabbed my car keys and walked out of the door.

I drive a turquoise jeep that I saved up an entire summer for. I drove up to Tanners driveway and waited for him. He finally came out and loaded his stuff in my trunk.

The beach in Miami was near downtown, 10 minuted from my house.

The car ride was awkward. Tanner attempted to tell me something but it seemed as if he couldn't find the right words.

"Tanner. Speak!" I told him, getting annoyed at all his nervous mumbling.

"Fine. I have a girlfriend." He explained. I nearly choked on my own saliva.

My heart stopped beating and I pulled the car over so I could look at him to see if he was joking or not.

I looked at his emerald eyes, they showed that he was telling the truth, for a second, they showed regret and sorrow.

"Who?" I said quietly, not looking at him.

"Hannah." He said.

Despite the 'serious' conversation we were suppose to be having, I couldn't help myself from laughing. I laughed so hard that I was crying! I guess it sorta made sense, Hannah though he was cute,nothing new.

But this was Hannah we were talking about, the girl who flirted with EVERY guy that walked by.

The longest Hannah has ever had a boyfriend was 24 hours. But that was that long because they didn't speak the same language and Hannah had to find a translator first.

Tanner looked at me confused, and then I explained the whole translator thing to him. He just shrugged and I drove to the beach in silence.

When we got there we unpacked our stuff and found a good spot on the beach to set everything up.

I went to the bathrooms to change into my Minnie mouse styled tankini.

When I came back to our shot on the beach, Tanner was holding of seaweed. He was coming my way...

"Hey, Princess look what I found!" He exclaimed.

"TANNER 'PUT THAT THING RIGHT BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME!' " I yelled, quoting Monsters Inc.

He was cracking up so hard but put it down. After that I taught him how to boogie board. Boogie boarding is my favorite sport! I always wanted to learn how to surf, but I was to clumsy.

We must have boogie bored for 4 hours! After boogie boarding we sat on towels and just talked for a while.

"Tanner!" I gasped after a while.

"Yes?" He said, looking up at me.

"MY LOCKET!" I yelled. I was wearing it when we were boogie boarding. It couldn't have slipped off! Could it? That was my only picture of Tanner and I that I had. He had a bunch on his phone, but I took that selfie of us. And the locket... It was the only token I got while we were there. It meant a lot to me and I couldn't loose it!

Tanner stood up, raking a hand through his hair. "Okay, don't panic we will find it!" He said, reassuringly.

"TANNER THATS A WHOLE OCEAN TO LOOK THROUGH! HOW ARE WE GOING TO FIND IT!?" I yelled, my cheeks wet with tears.

He put his hands on my shoulders. "Then we will search a whole ocean until we find it!" He whipped away a dew of my tears and smiled at me. "Lets just look around our stuff first. Okay?" I nodded.

It took us 20 minutes to find the necklace. I was looking through the stuff, my back to Tanner when he saw something shining in my hair. The locket was tangled in my hair! I was so relieved to have it again. I opened it up and quickly peeked at the picture before Tanner noticed.

"Lets get some dinner." Tanner said after we found the missing locket. He brought me back a hotdog from a hotdog stand passing by.

Soon after Hanna texted him. I didn't see what the text said though.

The sun was setting, an end to another Saturday was coming. We went swimming after eating.

We swam out far, I couldnt touch the sand at the bottom. Tanner and I were splashing each other when a sharp, electric like pain shot up my left leg.

I yelled out in pain and Tanner stopped splashing me and swam over, trying to see whats wrong. I saw a pink blob in the water, a jellyfish! Tanner pulled me back to shore and started looking through his stuff.

"I packed some cream for Jellyfish stings, my mom made me." He explained. He found the cream and gave it to me.

I gently spread it all over my stung, Tanner at my side. When I finished, the pain decreased. I looked up at him. He was close, really close.

His kind, emerald eyes glimmered in the setting sun. He leaned closer to me, inches away. We almost kissed. Almost. But I stopped him.

"Hannah." I reminded him.

He laughed. "I broke up with her, an hourish ago, I was just trying to get you jealous to be honest."

I playfully punched him. "Tanner!" He laughed. We started packing up our stuff and put it in jeep.

"Hey, Princess!" Tanner said as I was about to close the trunk.

"Yes?" I asked, turning toward him. Then he kissed me. I felt sparks, just like our first kiss. He was my Prince, and I had no doubt about it.
