Doctors quickly rushed in the room, wearing blue scrubs.

"Sir, im going to have to ask you to please leave the room." said the nurse that let me in a week ago. She gave me a sorrowful look. "I'll do my best to save her." She said as I walked out if the room. I only walked out because I knew it was the only way I could help her.

Then came the excruciating pain of the waiting room. When your first in the waiting room, you don't notice it, but the waiting room is the most painful punishment of all time, hours of waiting and worrying about loved ones, and half the time you don't even realize that your crying.

I took a seat in the corner, not wanting anyone to see me crying. As much as I held back tears, they just kept coming and coming.

Her mom must have left, because I couldn't see her. I did see one familiar face however, Mina, Carissa's friend. She saw me right away and hesitantly sat down next to me.

She gave me a shy but friendly smile. I just looked at her, not able to smile. I think she understood that when your world is falling apart, its kinda hard to smile.

We sat in silence. From the muffled sound we both were making, I made the conclusion that she was crying as well.

My mom texted me:

Mom: WHERE ARE YOU?! ARENT YOU DONE YET?!

At first I wasn't going to answer. She would have just tried to reason with me that being with a 'stranger' is a huge mistake. But she needed to know what was going on.

Me: Mom she is dying

I quickly sent her. Strangely enough she didn't answer. I just texted her again.

Me: I'm going to stay next door with her mom and siblings tonight to try to help them out as much as I can.

Mina stood up and got a tissue, handing me one as well. I accepted it, drying way my old tears, replacing them with fresh tears that stung my cheek.

I didnt move from the spot all day until visiting hours were over. Mina left about mid day, she explained that her parents had to pick her up for a family get together.

They say that time flys when your having fun. But when your not having fun, time slows down. Seconds become hours and hours become years in your mind.

No doctors would or could give me any information. When visiting hours where up, I got into my car and drove up to Carrissa's house.

It was raining. The thunder boomed across the pavement and echoed off the houses. I slowly approached the door, waiting a few brief moments before knocking.

The front room light was on. And three shadows were sitting down. The biggest on got up and walked until I could no longer see the shadow.

The person who belonged to the shadow was her mom. She managed to pull a week smile and beckoned me inside.

"Im sorry to bother you..." I began.

"Oh shush" her mother said, wiping away tears. "Your welcomed here anytime. The kids are sleeping and I'm just sitting around worrying. Come, sit." she ordered and led me to the living room.

I sat down on the couch. There was a few painful moments of awkward silence. I missed Carrissa's, and I prayed that she would wake up soon.

Around 3:00 am and both Carissa's mother and I were waiting for news from the hospital. The phone sat steadily on the table, we both stared at it, just waiting.

The phone rang. The phone rang, and my heart stopped. I reached quickly for the phone but allowed her mother to answer it.

"Yes, okay, uh-huh, okay." her mother said. I couldnt hear the person on the other line though. She put down the phone. "We have to get to the hospital. Now."
