I was still in control. But it was slipping, I was howling in pain while trying to stay strong until Sarah came back.
~Sarah's POV~
I was frantically looking for something to feed to Kayla when I heard a scream turn into a howl. I was frozen. I was too late. Without a second thought I ran to Benny's grandma.
"Kayla's in trouble!" I screamed.
"What happened?"
"Her Beast...I left her alone! I'm such a bad friend-she got me blood and I was too late to help her," I cried.
"Don't worry! I know how to save her. Get Benny, he's in the car." She instructed. I nodded and sped to the car. Within a minute I was back with a half-unconscious Benny. "Benny. Give me your arm."
He was still out of it, "Why???" He whined like a kid.
"I'm gonna take some of your blood. Sara you might want to hold your breath." She instructed and I nodded.
"Why?" He asked again before zoning out again.
"Kayla lost control and she needs blood," Mrs. Weir looked at me her volume lowered, "Now that she's met her mate she needs his blood to calm her down," I gasped, "They obviously don't know this yet but they will find out," She passed me the blood and I held my breath as I ran back to Kayla.
~Kayla's POV~
I knew I was loosing my grip on control, but I needed to wait longer. I had to. Soon enough I saw Sarah running full speed toward me. About time I thought but still, I shuffled away from her. I didn't want to hurt her.
"I know your scared but this will help. I promise," She put down a sack of blood. I didn't know what it was from but I drained it in one large gulp. It was the best blood I'd ever had! It completely calmed me down, and I felt almost normal again.
I slowly felt myself shift back from my Beast form. Once I was completely better I hugged her and cried, "Thank you."
"What are friends for?"
I looked at the ground ashamed, "That's the first time I'd lost control since I killed my parents and I vowed to never forget to feed again."
Sarah put her hand on my shoulder, "I'm going to make sure you feed every day, we'll drink together," she smiled and we giggled. We put our arms around each other like best friends do and walked to Ethan's house.
We heard yelling coming from the backyard, we started running and Sarah jumped on Jesse. He dropped the Cubile Animus and Ethan caught it. Next thing I knew Jesse was holding Sara up by the throat.
"Oh hell no." I ran to him. He held his hand out and suddenly I couldn't move. I was struggling and it was really painful.
"I've got your friends in a box!" Ethan taunted.
"And I've got your babysitters!" Jesse responded harshly.
"They're really Jane's babysitters." Benny corrected.
"Give me the Cubile Animus the souls must be transferred now!" Jesse yelled urgently.
"Sarah!" Ethan yelled worried when he saw her struggling.
I was hurting and I felt him push me down, I felt my legs break and I howled in pain, "Kayla!" Benny screamed.
"Now, hand it over or they die!" He threatened.
"NO! Don't do it!" I yelled.
"Ethan! Don't!" Sarah agreed.
From Ethan's bedroom window I heard Mrs. Weir and Jane recite a spell, Jesse was struck by lightning, stunning him long enough for Sarah and I to be freed. We ran over to the guys and I could feel my legs healing. I also felt Benny holding me steady.
"Hey! You can have the box, just not what's inside! You wrecked their premiere now you deal with them!" Ethan said opening the box and releasing the souls. They all attacked Jesse and he disintegrated in a red smoke/liquid-like substance.
"I can't believe you dated that ass," I muttered to Sara.
~
A few minutes later Sarah and I were sitting on the couch when the door opened revealing Mr. and Mrs. Morgan.
"You're back! How was is?" I asked smiling brightly.
"It was fine but...." Mr. Morgan trailed off as his wife showed us her hand in a cast.
"You know what they say about karma. Anyway how was the night over here?" She looked between the two of us kindly.
"Not much, it was pretty dead." Sara answered and I chuckled.
They let us leave and we walked home laughing, "What blood was that you gave me? It was amazing!"
"Let's just say, it was special." She smiled to me and we linked arms.
"I'm happy Jesse's gone," I noted
"You and me both."
"Come on, let's go home," and we did.
