Yearbook photo day always annoyed me. It's when the hot people complain about how bad they look and everyone else wishes that they were that hot. I never liked how it lowered literally everyone's self-esteem. On the way to school, I just complained to Sarah about how yearbooks are a sorry excuse for teens to waste money on a book they're going to look at once. We got to Sarah's locker so she could get her books and Erica waved, walking over to join us.
"I think I'm going to get my hair done for the picture," She told us flipping her hair back.
I looked at her confused, "Why would you do that? Vampires can't show up on film." I reminded her. Then I chuckled, "Hehe, I can't relate."
"One. You don't even like yearbook photos. And two. You get some weird glow thing around you," Sarah retorted.
I nodded, "That's true but at least I can show up on camera."
"But this would have been my first hot yearbook photo ever. The others were..." Erica trailed off triggered.
"Not. The best photo of you," Sarah nodded, I shuddered remembering the pictures that she had shown me a few days prior.
"I don't care if nobody else can see it. I'll know I looked good," She looked at the two of us, "What about you two? Don't you care?"
I shook my head, "I'm not taking a photo, can't draw suspicion to the halo-like glow that will ultimately show up when they take the picture."
Sarah shrugged, "I kind of just wish I could forget this whole year."
Just then Ethan ran right up to us, looking directly at Sarah, "Hey! So, um...a girl just asked me if she could trust me. What does that mean? Is it a trap?" He was so confused.
"What does that mean?" She asked in response.
"What do you mean?" He asked back, more confused.
"Sarah." Erica called, looking at them in disgust, "You have got to stop hanging out with him. You're turning into the same person. Next thing you know, you'll be reading comic books and snorting when you laugh," Ethan made a laughing snort, I couldn't tell if it was intentional or accidental. Then she turned to me, "Same goes for you and magic dork, you'll end up playing video games night and day and drooling when you smell food."
Right at her words I could smell someone having a turkey sandwich and could feel my mouth salivating, I swallowed and chuckled nervously.
"Hannah Price just asked me if she could trust me. Can she?" Ethan asked, stopping the awkward conversation.
"Can she?" Sarah parroted.
"Why are you asking us?" I questioned.
"I can't watch this happen," Erica groaned and sped away from us.
"I mean. If she's asking if she can trust you, she might like you?" I guessed.
"Really?" Ethan asked.
"Probably," Sarah nodded.
"What do I do?" He asked cluelessly.
"Just see what happens. Think of it as an experiment," She translated into nerd so he would understand.
His eyes lit up, "Good idea! I need to collect more data," He smiled and walked away.
Sarah smiled and giggled, then she snorted and froze. I laughed, "That's amazing," I wheezed.
