*Two Months Later*
I woke up to Roger rubbing my belly softly. I had gotten so big, I felt like a whale. Roger smiled at me as I woke up, but I frowned.
"Good morning beautiful," he said. "How are you feeling?"
"My back hurts," I responded. "And my feet are all swollen and I'm nauseous and hungry at the same time."
"One more month, darling," he said softly, kissing my cheek.
"Yeah one more month," I said. "Then we're never doing this again." Roger chuckled as he got out of bed.
"Whatever you say babe," Roger said. "Oh by the way, we're going to dinner at Rory's tonight. Apparently, she has some news for us."
"Do you think she's pregnant?" I asked.
"I'm not sure," he said. "But that's probably what it is. I can't imagine what else it would be."
"Great," I said. "After these two come out of me we can deal with another pregnancy. At least it won't be mine." Roger chuckled and I started to get out of bed, but I stopped when I felt a pain in my stomach. I cried out and Roger looked over at me.
"Are you alright, baby?" Roger asked me.
"No," I said. "Roger, something's wrong. My stomach really hurts!" I cried out as I felt the pain again and Roger ran over to me.
"Alright," he said. "It's alright, we're going to go to the hospital. Come on, sweetie." Roger helped me up and helped me into some comfy clothes. We quickly got to the car and drove to the hospital. When we got there, we didn't have to wait long before the on call doctor saw us. He examined me while Roger waited anxiously by my side.
"What's going on," I asked him. "Are my babies ok?"
"Everything is fine Mrs. Taylor," the doctor said. "What you're feeling is normal. You're having contractions. The babies are coming."
"What?" I said. "That's impossible! I'm not due for another month!"
"Oh it's very possible," he said. "In fact it's common. Less than half of all twins are born after 37 weeks gestation and you're at 36."
"No," I said. "I-I'm not ready, I can't do this!"
"Lilly-"
"No, Roger!" I interrupted. "I can't do this, I'm going to have to push two babies out of me and my doctor isn't even her and - ow!" I was interrupted when I had another contraction.
"Baby, it's going to be alright," Roger said. "I'll be right here with you the whole time. You can do this." He kissed my cheek softly and I sighed nervously.
"I'll call your doctor," the on call doctor said to me. "For now, we're going to get you checked into a room in our maternity ward. I'll check-up on you until your doctor gets here to see you dilated you are, if you're ok with that."
"Yeah ok," I said. "As long as my doctor gets here before the babies do."
"I will do my best," he said. "Let's just get you a room first. We have private or semi-private-"
"Private," I said. "Please." The doctor nodded and went to get my room ready. Once it was ready, a few nurses came in to move me to my private room. When I was settled in, Roger pulled a chair up and sat next to me.
"Can you believe this, love?" Roger asked. "We're going to have our twins!"
"Yes, it's wonderful, Rog," I said. "And I'm sure I'll be really happy about it once I've pushed two tiny humans out of my vagina!" I cried out as I had another contraction and Roger grabbed my hair.
"Breathe, honey," he said. Roger helped me through my breathing.
"Roger," I said as it ended. "If we're having these babies today, our friends are going to want to know." Roger sighed.
"That's going to be a lot of phone calls," he said.
"No it's not," I said. "Call Freddie, he'll tell everyone else." Roger nodded in agreement and left the room to make the call. I looked down at my belly and took a deep breath. I guess it's time to become a mommy.
