The prep for Ella's wedding was very stressful, especially for her and Gwilym, but once the day came, it was absolutely perfect. The ceremony was beautiful and we were all having a great time at the reception. Everything was going great until about an hour into the reception. I was dancing with Lilly and Winter when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach. Lilly and Winter came over to help me. I didn't know what was happening, but I was worried it had something to do with the baby, so we decided to go to the hospital.

Joe and Ben took me to the hospital to get checked out while everyone else stayed at the reception. They wanted to come, but I insisted on them staying. I did not want to ruin Ella and Gwilym's wedding. Fortunately, my doctor was working that day, so she came in to examine me herself. She performed an ultrasound and had a worried look on her face.

"Is everything alright?" I asked.

"Well," she said. "It seems your stomach pains were Braxton Hicks contractions."

"What does that mean?" Ben asked.

"They're basically fake contractions," Dr. Camden answered. "A lot of women get them in their second and third trimester. They are perfectly normal."

"Oh good," Joe said. "So she's fine? The baby's fine?" Dr. Camden gave us a sentimental look and then said,

"No. I'm sorry."

"Is he alive?" I asked, about to break down in tears.

"Yes," she said. "But when I did the ultrasound I found that the umbilical cord is wrapped around his neck. His oxygen levels are dropping and we need to take him out now."

"What?" I said, worried. "But I'm not due for ten weeks! He'll be premature! He could die."

"Rory, sweetie," Dr. Camden said, touching my arm to comfort me. "If we don't take him out now, he will die." I started crying a little bit and Joe leaned over to me.

"It'll be alright, Rory," he said. "Lots of babies are born more premature than this and they've survived." I nodded, but I wasn't completely reassured.

"We have to take you in for an emergency C-section," she said. "I'm going to go get the nurses and prep the operating room quickly. I'll be back for you in a few minutes. Just try to relax until then." I nodded as she left, but I couldn't relax. I really hope my little one is alright.
