Everything is burning. What is going on?

The walls of your dormitory are burning, puffing out thick, hazy, black smoke that chokes you with every breath. You jolt upright immediately, hitting your head on the top of the ceiling- that damned top bunk. You threw yourself out, landing with a crash on the floor and causing your back to pop and moan. Suddenly, you can't move. Your muscles are locked, and you can't move a thing; you can't even turn your head to see where the rest of the girls are. You don't have to look though. You can hear them.

"Ymir!" Krista screams, her voice hoarse from the flames licking at her vocal cords. "Help-," you hear a large crashing smack the floor, and Krista's voice ceases. The roof has caved in from the disintegrating supports. "Y/N, please help us!" the red-headed girl, Hannah, pleas. "Y/N," now everyone left is screaming. Some voices are choked out as the smoke suffocates. Seemingly, the doors and windows had been locked from the outside. All you could hear was the guttural crying and weeping of the teenage girls choking for their final breaths. You had to listen, squeezing tears from your eyes, as you remained unscathed. The ceiling all but cracked above you, and your lungs had not even remotely given up.

Silence. The crackles of the flames is all that is left in the ruins of this hell. Yet still, you cannot move. "Y/N," a familiar voice yells.

    "Y/N!"

    "Y/N! Get up!"

You open your eyes to see the ceiling of the dormitory, the air clear and detoxified of all ashes and smoke. No fire springs forwards, and as your eyes start to focus, you can now see the dozens of heads of your dorm mates looming over you, looking concerned. One face looks downright scared. Mikasa's grey eyes pierce into yours as she tries to sooth your rapidly beating heart. "I-," you try to stutter, but she hushes you. "It was a dream." You clench your fists to move your hands, which feels disgusting after having laid awake on the floor, unmoving for many hours. Except, you hadn't. As you slowly begin to sit up, you realize that you are on the dormitory floor. "How did I get here?" you asked, your voice still shaky and trembling from fear. "You jumped off the bunk, fell on your ass, still as a twig, and just howled and screamed for about five minutes." The voice was so lacking, so unsympathetic, that you appreciated it. You didn't want to be pitied. You just wanted to be ignored and faced with reality.

How could all of those hours only have been a five minute sanity breach?

In response to your dull silence, some of the nosy girls who had been hoping to hear nightmare details crawled back into their beds, pulling up their blankets, and dozing off peacefully, without a single second thought. As others followed suit, you noticed, still glancing at you, Mikasa had not budged. "Do you want to talk about it?" she whispered in that voice that made your heart swell. "A-another time," you managed, as calmly as you could. "What time is it anyway?" you asked, noting the dark black, starry sky out of the windows. "I have no idea, but if I had to guess, it's probably around three o'clock in the morning." Now, you noticed her baggy eyelids, drooping concernedly over at your profile. "Let's get back to bed." She was so maternal towards you that it made your heart pang. Although her idea was probably a lot better, you couldn't bear it. You had to move around and clear your head. "I'll be back in a little bit; I'm just going to take a walk and calm down. Please don't wait for me." you begged her. "Fine," she said, "but if you're not back in thirty minutes, I'm coming after you." You grinned (at least the best that you could) at her, knowing fully well by the snores that you had heard below you before drifting off to sleep that she would be waist deep in unconsciousness within ten minutes.

You didn't even think to grab a jacket before you quietly pushed the dormitory door open and heaved your way outside. Some of the remaining, awake girls had looked at you, including Annie, who hadn't taken her eyes off of you since you had woken up, and she looked almost compelled to come along.
