Jongho led his betas and Wooyoung out of the town quickly to avoid the alpha from waking up.
This must have been a common thing because no one tried to stop them or made any sign of being upset about the fight.
Either that, or they just didn't care.
Wooyoung kept glancing over his shoulder as the left the town and he was really skittish.
The sound of a branch snapping caused him to jump and stumble to the side.
What had the poor boy been through?
San watched him closely, and when tears started to come to his eyes, the beta wrapped an arm around his waist and helped guide him forward.
He shot Jongho a concerned look, but the alpha didn't know what he was supposed to do.
"It's ok." San whispered, rubbing his nose on the side of Wooyoung's head. "You don't need to be afraid."
The omega sniffed and nodded.
"Do you feel up to shifting so we can put some distance between us and this place?" Jongho asked, tilting his head to the side and putting on what he hoped was a friendly but concerned smile.
Wooyoung glanced at him with his big, round eyes and the alpha felt his stomach flip. His wolf churned within him and he fought to keep it under control.
His damn wolf is exactly what got him in this situation in the first place...
Slowly, the omega nodded and looked nervously at the three of them before stepping behind a group of bushes.
The other three took this opportunity to strip and shift as well.
A few seconds later, Wooyoung emerged sporting a beautiful chocolate and black flecked coat.
Jongho was happy to see he still had his golden brown eyes too.
San pranced over to him and rubbed up against his side. Wooyoung seemed hesitant at the contact, but he didn't shy away from it either, making San even happier. A large smile crossed his face as his tail wagged back and forth.
Then he ran over to Yunho and tackled the taller wolf to the ground.
Jongho rolled his eyes and walked over to the omega.
Wooyoung's ears went back and he bowed his head a little, but Jongho immediately slipped his head underneath to lift it back up. He huffed and licked the omega's muzzle once before turning to yap at the other two.
All three of them picked up their packs, Jongho carrying two so that Wooyoung didn't have to, and they fell into an easy lope as they worked their way through the trees again.
They spent the next few days roaming the wilderness again. Wooyoung gradually became more comfortable being around them and even started to play with San and Yunho when they would take a break from walking.
The first time Jongho considered claiming him and bringing him into the pack was when he saw the omega chase a school of fish up a shallow river.
The joy he saw on Wooyoung's face when he tried to catch one on his own, and actually succeeded, made Jongho pause and forget everything he had been thinking about previously.
It was hard to communicate with no pack link, but they managed.
After being together for a couple of weeks, Jongho was keeping watch in his wolf form, but his eyes kept getting drawn to where Wooyoung was cuddled into San's side. The nights were getting colder so they were all in wolf form right now.
