Over the next few months, Jongho did the best he could to try and be a good alpha. Or at least better than what he was before.
He always made sure that his Betas and Omega had everything they needed. They had started staying inside the house. It was insulated and had a roof on it, just in time for the raging winter before them.
There was still much work that needed to be done, like varnishing the walls, putting a seal on the floors, adding internal doors, not to mention all the furniture that still needed to be bought.
But for now, the four of them were contend with sleeping on a mound of blankets and pillows in what would soon become their living room.
In fact, they had all become so used to sleeping together that Jongho had a surprise planned for them. He had designed an extra large bedroom for them all to share. He didn't think he could stand being apart from any one of them. But he would have other bedrooms set up just in case that wasn't what they wanted.
Jongho knew he was pushing things by dragging out other decisions, like picking a Luna. Mingi had asked him about it on a regular basis, which he did he best to not get annoyed with his older brother, but it was starting to get hard. He didn't know how he could chose between the three of them. It didn't seem possible.
But for now, he was undergoing 'training' with Mingi. They had set up in Mingi's living room, where there was plenty of distractions, and he was supposed to be keeping his wolf under control.
Ana was crying in the background, it was a loud, piercing cry that gave Jongho and instant headache. And Hongjoong and Seonghwa yelling in the background wasn't helping.
"What did you do to her?" Seonghwa shouted as he stormed into the room.
"Nothing! She just started crying!" Hongjoong yelled back. "Why do you always assume I've done something to her?"
"Because you're you! Give me my daughter." The omega snapped.
Focus. Mingi's voice entered his head directly. Focus, Jongho. You're doing well. Just breath.
The young alpha took a deep breath and forced his wolf back down. This was all training. He needed to stay in control.
"I was just trying to help! Why don't you get your head out of your ass for two seconds and just admit that I'm a good uncle!"
Then Yeosang entered the room, mumbling something about trying to relax and that he was getting stressed out.
Focus. You're doing well. Mingi said, although he was starting to sound stressed himself.
Ana's crying grew louder while someone stomped out of the room.
"I know honey, you're teething and you're hungry. Mama is going to get you a bottle." Seonghwa cooed.
Jongho cracked his neck and took another deep breath. He could feel his anger slowly dying within him.
Especially when the door opened and the scent of marshmallows claimed his senses. His wolf sprang forward and he wanted nothing more than to go to his omega. His head turned to the side and he was about to open his eyes, but suddenly Jongho said, No! Keep focusing. You need to stay in control. And that means not giving in to all sides of your wolf. Jongho grumbled but turned his head forward once more. How much longer are we doing this?
Until I say so. Impatience will only make it go longer. Mingi said with a teasing tone.
The younger brother sent his displeasure through their private link but worked on trying to calm down. And yet he couldn't help but stay in tune with everything Wooyoung was doing. He seemed to pick up on the Omega a little more than the other too, so he could picture what the Omega was doing without seeing him.
"Poor Ana, she sounds like she's having a rough evening." Wooyoung said, his voice slightly shy. He was still unsure of how the others felt about him, especially Seonghwa. Jongho couldn't blame him, Seonghwa even intimidated him sometimes. Even though Mingi was the head alpha, Seonghwa was really the one in charge around here.
"Yeah, I think she's got another tooth coming in." Seonghwa said, then started shushing the baby gently.
"She's sure got some lungs on her." Yeosang said with a giggle.
"Yeah she gets that from Mingi, so you better be ready for your little boy to be the same." Seonghwa laughed and moved to sit on the couch behind where Jongho was sitting with his legs crossed.
He could feel Mingi pride through their link. Yeosang had just recently announced that he was pregnant with a boy, and the Alpha couldn't be more proud of the fact that he was going to have a baby of each gender. That flowed into pride for his pack, and how far they had come.
"Nah, I bet he will be nice and quiet like Sangie." Wooyoung giggled and moved got sit next to Seonghwa. Jongho could tell he was watching Ana feed, and soon all that could be heard was the little girl suckling on her bottle of milk.
"What's it like, having a baby?" Wooyoung asked quietly.
Jongho tilted his head just a bit. The curiosity in his omega's voice tugged at his wolf again and he pushed it back, earning a quick note of praise from Mingi.
"It's the most rewarding thing you can ever go through." Seonghwa said. There was a gentle, compassionate tone to his voice. "It's definitely not easy, and you'll spend a lot of time hating your body during it because there's a lot of pain that goes along with it. But the first time you get to hold your baby... It all becomes worth it. There's really no other way to describe it."
"It sounds amazing." Wooyoung said.
Jongho swallowed the lump in his throat as his wolf churned writhing him. It longed to start a family, but he was terrified of turning into his father. He honestly didn't know if he wanted to have pups or not...
"Maybe one day." Wooyoung's voice was suddenly right next to his ear and he tilted his head to press a long, loving kiss to the side of Jongho's neck. "See you all tomorrow, thank you again for dinner."
"You bet Youngie. Get some rest tonight." Yeosang said, letting out a sigh as he settled into the couch.
The front door closed and Jongho listened as Wooyoung walked further and further away. He tried to take several deep breaths to calm his worried heart.
It's ok. Mingi said. You have time. It's natural for omegas to ask and be curious about having pups. Give it time.
Jongho nodded. He didn't trust himself to reply right now.
You did well tonight Baby Brother. I'm proud of you. Return to your pack and get some rest.
