"JUNGKOOK GET BACK HERE!" She yelled as she chased him around the school cafeteria, attracting the attention of almost every student sitting there.
"Hell no, I told you I'm hungry and have no money, just let me eat it!" He swiftly swerved around the tables as he responded to her.
"That's my KitKat ,asshole!"
She sped up after him only to get pulled back by a sudden force. She looked behind her to see her grey skirt stuck on a nail that poked out of one of the tables. She grumbled while trying to free herself, cursing at the school uniform while at it. She hated how constricting the uniform was. She found the white shirt uncomfortable and the grey tie suffocating, so she always kept it hanging around her neck without actually tying it. She wasn't fond of the short grey skirt either; she always wore black leggings underneath. She tried to get grey pants from the boys' uniform, but she was called out for it by their principal and sent home that day. A few seconds later, she broke free and lifted her head to look for Jungkook.
He laughed at her struggle and dashed towards the exit when he saw Jimin blocking his way. Jimin stretched out his arms and held Jungkook around the waist, stopping him from making another move forward. Jana spotted them and ran faster in their direction. She snatched her chocolate bar back before kicking Jungkook's shin, making him hiss in pain.
"Ouch. Jana, that hurt!"
"Better think of that pain next time you decide to steal my KitKat"
Jimin eyed them both and laughed out loud. He then rushed them back to their table where they were sitting earlier.
"Hey, Jana. How are you handling the choreography so far?" Jimin asked before taking a bite of his tuna sandwich.
"It's so damn hard. I've only learnt it before yesterday, the dance off is in two days, and we haven't practiced our formation yet. Yep, we're doomed"
"Ahh looks like old Jana is back. Last time you were too positive for your own good"
She turned her head to face the speaker; it was Hoseok. She greeted him with a wave and a smile.
"You're still struggling with the footwork?"
"No, it's the hand movements, Hobi. I always seem to mess them up," She ate the last bite of her chocolate bar and laid her head on the table frowning. "I'll never get it right. Maybe you guys should just participate without me. I guess the only reason you're losing is me."
"Oh please, stop fishing for attention. You're in the group, like it or not," Jungkook commented as he pulled her head back up making her sit straight in her chair. "Besides, who am I supposed to make fun of for dancing like a choking chicken if you quit now?"
"Why you little-," She was about to get up and beat him into a pulp if not for Hoseok holding her back.
"I'm a year older than you, brat. Show me some respect!""I'll show you respect when you give me food, other than that my respect for you is below the ground!"
They continued bickering and throwing insults towards each other, while Jimin and Hoseok just sat there enjoying their food as if it was all normal. Well, that really was their usual. It might have seemed as if Jana and Jungkook despised each other, but deep down both of them shared an almost unbreakable bond.
With their parents being childhood friends later on work partners, it was only natural for the two of them to have met every chance they got and eventually grown attached to each other. They had been friends since diapers. Literally.
The rest of the school day passed by in a blur, and soon the four of them were heading together towards their usual hangout spot, EatJin.
They were about to head inside when Jana received a notification making her halt her steps and take a look at her phone."Shit, sorry guys. I'm supposed to move out today"
"Move? Why? Did something happen?" Worried, jimin asked her.
"Not really. It's just that my mom wants to visit my dad in Egypt; we haven't seen him in over two years now, and she doesn't want me to stay alone. "
"Won't you still be alone when you move out?" Jungkook added.
"Nah, I'm moving in with her best friend's son. She says he's reliable"
"You could just stay at mine, you know. My parents miss you"
"That's what I told my mom but she said she doesn't trust us. Something about almost burning the kitchen down last time I stayed over"
"Oh, right. Now that you mention it, stay there. I don't want to almost face death again"
She laughed then waved her hands goodbye and jogged her way to her house ,humming a sweet tune. Once she arrived, she found her mother standing outside with a suitcase set beside her leg and a taxi parked beside the pavement.
"Jana! What took you so long?"
"Sorry, mom. Kinda forgot that I'm moving today"
"Now I'm actually reconsidering leaving you here on your own. You're just so inattentive and reckless sometimes"
"You worry too much, mommy. I'll be fine~"
With that said, she took the apartment keys from her mother and quietly waited for the driver to place the luggage in the trunk. After around five minutes, everything was set and Jana was ready to leave.
"Now try not to spend all your allowance at once, and don't forget to clean your room. Also try not to cause trouble for Seokjin, I've known him for so long and he's a fine young man. Never lose the keys, got it? I told him that you're a responsible person, so don't embarrass me and yourself. And don't forget to-"
"I get it, mom," She giggled at her panicking mother. "I'll be alright. Have a safe flight!"
She hugged her mother and wished her goodnight then went on her way.
