Unknown's POV
They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Just by looking to someone straight to the eyes, you can see how the person is feeling. Its true, but with her, its completely different. I have stared deep into her eyes and no matter how long I do, I get nothing. She's so complex, but that's what I like about her the most. Those dark brown eyes, that even though they're dark, they're also the brightest eyes I have ever seen. They have this sort of sparkle on them that just draws you in like a metal to a magnet. Those eyes are closed now. She's laying completely still on that bed, not moving a muscle. She smells different. I want so bad to kiss those slightly chapped lips, have a passionate dance with her tongue against mine, caress her cheek while we do so, but unfortunately I can't. She's so close, but so far away at the same time that it hurts, a lot.

Sofia's POV
"Soph, hurry up!" My annoying brother shouted from downstairs for the third time since I got out of the shower.
"I'm coming! Just wait for me in the car! I'll be down in five seconds!" I shouted back. He's probably texting with one of his friends complaining about me, as always, but I don't care, I'm already used to it, plus I also complain about him with my friends.
"Okay!" He replied. Thank God! I glanced at myself on the mirror from my closet approving the way I look. I fixed my hair into a braid keeping it away from my face. My uniform feels slightly bigger since the last time I wore it. Its been two weeks since I was released from the hospital. I remember when the symptoms began, like the fever, the weakness, the loss of appetite, the constant pain in my back and the nightmares, but the rest is still a blur.
I push those terrible memories to the back of my mind and finish packing my bag. This is my first game since I got out of the hospital and I don't want to be late. I already missed three games and the team lost every single one of them. Not to brag, but we never lose when I'm playing. The sound of the horn of my brother's car snap me out of my thoughts. I grabbed the bag, jogged downstairs, locked the front door and climbed into the passenger's seat from my brother's 2009 red Corolla.
"Took ya long enough." Dereck teased and I rolled my eyes turning on the radio. I rather listen to the constant advertisings from the radio than my brother's teasing.
I'm nervous too nervous, I'm never nervous for a volleyball game. Why am I nervous? Do I still know how to play? What if we lose because of me? What if...
"Calm down. You're gonna do great." Dereck said placing his hand on my left shoulder. I looked around and noticed that we're parked a little too far from the building. The place is packed! There are a lot of school buses and a lot of different teams walking towards the building. I didn't realized that my hands were turned into fists until I felt the blood pounding on them and released them feeling a little pain. I must've zoned out because the ride from home to school takes about twenty minutes without traffic and it felt like seconds. I glanced at my brother and he's texting again. I slide my bag on my left shoulder and climb off the car, Dereck does the same and we walk together to the building. He sits on the bleachers with his friends and I head for the girl's dressing room. I put my bag on a locker and then I look for a volleyball. I need to warm up more than the girls to make up for the practices and games that I missed. I finally find a decent ball and walk towards my brother who is now sitting alone. I wave the ball in the air gesturing him to play with me and he takes it from me and we walk outside to one of the empty volleyball courts. It was only us and a guy reading a book on the bleachers. He had a black tux, his hair was long, dark brown and curly and he looked like he hated being here. I ignored him and played with my brother. After thirty minutes I was called by my coach to warm up with the team because our game is going to start soon. I'm not that friendly with the girls from my team. Its not that we hate each other, they're sometimes funny and cool, but they can be very annoying when they're talking about guys or being mean to other people and I don't like it, so I stay as far away from them as I can and only talk with them when is completely necessary. I don't even know their names.
I'm practicing my service which is my forte and my team is on the other side receiving the balls I throw at them and practicing the moves our coach thought us. I decided to practice the service jumping just one time and I must say that I did it perfectly, but the girl that received it was in the wrong position and the ball returned to my side of the court and it bumped into a guy's leg. He was on the first row of the bleachers reading a book. When I reached to him, I recognized him as the same guy that was outside.
James POV
I got inside the building because it was raining outside. My father insisted on bringing me to this volleyball competition and his excuse was that none of my brothers could come and he didn't wanted to come alone. I think that that's bullshit and he just wanted to annoy me. I was perfectly fine in my room reading and listening to Linkin Park and Green Day. He even made me wear this stupid and itchy tux just to keep the image of rich family in front of the other universities. He goes to school's events to look at possible candidates for the university, once he has picked the best of the best, he offers them scholarships and a lot of other shit so they would go to our university and most of them do so. He's talking right now with some business old guys on the VIP area and I'm still reading my Sherlock Holmes book. I was having a good time until a fucking ball bumped into my leg interrupting my peaceful reading. I'm about to kick the ball far away when I look up and see a girl running towards me.
"I'm so, so sorry! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" She asked, worry clear in her big dark eyes. Normally I would've waited till she was close enough and the kick the ball away so she gets pissed and annoyed, but the second my green eyes met hers, I stopped my actions and picked the ball without breaking eye contact.
"Uh, yeah. I'm okay. I believed this is yours." I said and gave the ball to her. When she took it, her hands touched mine and I felt something weird in my chest, like a strong pounding and when our hands stopped touching, the pounding turned weaker but still present.
"I'm James." My mouth blurted out before my brain could stop it from doing so and she smiled. I provably made some weird face because most of the people I meet give me a fake smile or they stay serious, but her smile is the most genuine smile I have ever seen and also the most beautiful.
"Sofia. Nice to meet you James" She politely responded and extended her hand to shake mine. When our hands touched again, the pounding in my chest returned and out of nowhere I took her hand and kissed the back of it and she laughed. Seconds later I found myself laughing too, her laugh is one of those laughs that make you want to laugh too.
"Sorry, I don't know why I did that." I apologized like a idiot and felt heat on my cheeks. She shook her hand and laughed again, making me laugh too.
"No, its okay. Don't apologize. Actually, keep doing that. Its the most beautiful gesture I have ever witnessed and I liked it. You're actually the first guy I've ever met that behaves like a gentleman. Any other guy would've kicked the ball away or threw some pervert line at me. So thank you, for...not being...a...jerk." She said now looking at her feet and I noticed that her cheeks are a shade of red that she didn't had before.
"Well, I have to go. My game starts now." She said after a few seconds of silence that I spent on staring at her. She has dark hair, tanned skin and a curvy body. She's not too fat or too skinny, she's in between and I find that very attractive. Her hair is on a braid keeping it away from her face accentuing her eyes and her other facial features. Her lips are a strange shade of dark red, almost wine and I must admit that I want to kiss this lips very badly. They must be soft.
"Okay." I replied and she waved me goodbye with a smile and walked away. I closed my book and placed it on the bench to my left side. I couldn't help but stare at her the whole game. When it was her turn for the service, she scored twelve points giving her team a massive lead on the game. If it weren't for the blonde from her team, Sofia could've easily won the game by herself. The first set ended 21-13 on her teams favor and I already saw my father's smirk, even though I'm like a hundred feet far from him. His attention was also on her, maybe because I talked with her or maybe because she's really talented, either way I don't care. I want to talk with her again and if my father plans on offering her a scholarship to her to be in our university, I would totally support it. Hell, I'll even do it myself. There's something about her and I plan on spending more time with this girl. She's the first person whose company I enjoyed in my whole life and I intend on seeing her as much as possible.
