Unknown'sPOV

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Just by looking to someone straight to the eyes, you can see how the person is feeling. Its true, but with her, its completely different. I have stared deep into her eyes and no matter how long I do, I get nothing. She's so complex, but that's what I like about her the most. Those dark brown eyes, that even though they're dark, they're also the brightest eyes I have ever seen. They have this sort of sparkle on them that just draws you in like a metal to a magnet. Those eyes are closed now. She's laying completely still on that bed, not moving a muscle. She smells different. I want so bad to kiss those slightly chapped lips, have a passionate dance with her tongue against mine, caress her cheek while we do so, buy unfortunately I can't. She's so close, but so far away at the same time that it hurts, alot.

James'POV

"Don't you dare tell me that she's dead!" The man, who now I assume is Sofia's father, cut off Dr. Steven.

"Sir, I need you to relax. Sofia is alive. She's stable, for now. The next twenty four hours are critical. Her blood showed high levels of some sort of intoxication. Her lungs are slightly burned. I'm guessing that she inhaled something?"

"Yes. She did." I exclaimed and they turned to look at me. I cleared my throat.

"We were in the lab and there was a explosion. We went outside, but Sofia was left behind, so we returned for her and found her on the floor unconscious. I think that her experiment blew in her face, so that's how she inhaled those toxic vapors."

"Makes sense." Dr. Steven cleared his throat. "Well, she's unconscious right now. You can go see her, but please maintain a little distance from her. Any physical interaction could complicate things." He said to us, but more directly to the man.

"Thank you doctor....?" The man asked.

"Steven, Dr. Steven. and you are?"

"Jackson, Tom Jackson. Sofia's father and this is Maria, her mother." They shook hands. Then, Tom turned to me.

"I don't mean to be rude, but....who are you and what are you doing here?

"Well, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, this young man over here is the one who practically saved your daughter. He brought her here in record time. If it weren't for his quick thinking, Sofia wouldn't be breathing as we speak." Dr. Steven spoke.
"Well, thank you...."
"James, James Bradford, sir." I replied and we shook hands. Then Dr. Steven led us to Sofia's room. She was laying still on the huge bed that swallowed her petite body. The only movement being her breathing. Then I felt a tap on my right shoulder.

"I know what you did, but I'm going to let it slip because she means a lot to you." Dr. Steven whispered in my left ear. Without giving me time to process his words, he walked away leaving me standing be the door confused and a little shocked. You see, us vampires are not supposed to feed our blood to any human or creature unless we're going to turn them or kill them. That's one of the many stupid rules that the vampire society follows. Guess what, I. Don't. Give. A Fuck. No way in hell I would've let her die. I have grew very fond of her to let her slip from my hands that easily. Yes everybody! James Bradford, the antisocial son of Ethan Bradford actually cares. He has a heart after all and it works.
I looked up at the scene in front of me and it felt awkward. Tom, Maria and Dereck sat on Sofia's bed surrounding her. Like protecting her from something or someone. So I turned around and decided to give them some space while I go home to change and eat. The fact that Sofia got hurt, she has a sexual harasser at school and that I missed lunch, were enough to trigger the predator side of me. I'm very, very thirsty and its not the kind of thirst that a single glass of water can subside.

***Two Hours Later***

I returned to the hospital after my pleasant meal. I showered and stopped at the flower shop and bought her a handful of sunflowers. When I looked at these sunflowers, they reminded me of Sofia, so I bought them for her. I made my way to her room and there she was. Sofia finally woke up. Her mom, dad, brother and three friends, one of them I recognized as Amanda, were around her smiling and talking. I stepped back and went to the waiting room. I pulled out my phone and started reading this book about paranormal stuff in the app that Sofia told me about. Suddenly, everything in my life revolves around Sofia. The littlest things reminds me of her. There's absolutely no doubt that I, the antisocial son of Ethan Bradford, am falling in love with a mortal.

Sofia's POV

"We'll return at 7:00pm. Ok? Your mom and I were called for a very important emergency. The mayor requested us personally." Dad told me after Dereck said a horrible knock-knock joke, but we all laughed because he was so passionate about it that he even made weird faces while saying it. It was really hilarious watching my brother, the captain of the basketball team, give a break to his tough guy act and just be himself around me and my friends.

"Okay. Just be careful." I told him and he wrapped me in a tight hug. My mom and my brother also hugged me and said their goodbyes. Dereck said that he was going home to take a shower, eat and bring me clothes and some food.

"So, your PrinceCharming saved you." Jane said leaning against the wall next to the door.

"She's right. He totally freaked out when he noticed that you weren't outside with us." Amanda continued.

"I wish you could have seen his face when Dereck was shaking you and you didn't responded. He immediately took you in his car and drove like crazy to the hospital. I'm telling ya, he really likes you." Natalie said smiling. I looked down trying to hide my blush.

"Its not that big of a deal. I mean, any other person would've freaked out if one of their friends were unconscious." I said trying to convince them and myself that James only sees me as a friend. But there's this little voice inside me that tells me otherwise.

James's POV

Shortly after her parents and brother left, her friends did also. THANK GOD! Now I have her all for myself. I picked up the flowers and walked to her room. Her face was glued to her phone. At first I thought that she was texting, but then I noticed that her thumbs weren't moving; she was reading. I smiled at myself. For a second I got a little jealous at the thought of her texting with some guy. I cleared my throat and her head snapped up to look at me. Her dark brown eyes lit up at my presence and I smirked. She enjoys my company. She motioned for me to sit next to her and I did, handing her the flowers in the process. She took them and blushed slightly. None of us have spoken a word, so I decided to break the silence with the one question that kept popping in my head since I brought her here.

"Sofia, what exactly do you remember?"
