Dereck's POV

Oh no! She's freaking out. I shouldn't have told her all that at once. I should've prepared her. But she deserves to know the truth.

--Flashback--

When dad first told me about us and his job I was only twelve years old, and I can assure you that it left me pretty shaken up. I had trouble sleeping and eating for a few weeks trying to take it all in. After two months, Sofia and I went to the park and we played soccer, a tradition we made when we were four years old. Every Sunday at 2:00pm, we would go to the park and play soccer until we couldn't walk anymore, then we would eat a snack in the convenience store that was crossing the street in front of the park and talk for a while, then we would walk home and play some video games afters showering and eating dinner. That's our thing.
That day was raining softly, but we didn't mind and still played. I kicked the ball a little too hard and instead of landing in the goalie, it went between some trees in the back that were like two hundred feet away. I was exhausted, so she ran after the ball to retrieve it and I sat on the ground recovering my breath.
It was around 5:30pm and I decided that when she returns with the ball, we would leave to buy our snacks and go home.

Sofia's POV

I ran after the ball that stopped against a big tree. I leaned down to grab it. I stood up and out of nowhere, a guy and a blonde girl wearing black suits appeared. They both had weird tattoos and they both had a smirk on their faces. When they saw that I was getting scared, they started to laugh. I took a step back and turned around to walk away. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. There was something about them that felt off. As I was walking, I turned my head to look back at those creeps that were staring at me, but they were gone. I shook my head thinking that it was just my imagination, but when I looked in front of me, my whole body froze in pure fear.
They were standing just a few feet in front of me with the same smirk from before, but they both had some kind of weird ancient knives, one on each hand. I started to panic. Without noticing, I was already running and each time I looked back, they were just walking, high fiving and laughing, like if they knew that I had nowhere to go. I just kept running towards my brother who was very far.

Dereck's POV

I stood up and saw my sister running like a maniac towards me, then I saw a guy with short dark hair and a blonde girl in black suits, with what looked like knives on their hands walking and laughing behind her, then I remembered what dad told me:
"You and Sofia will always be in danger, but mostly her, since she's the most gifted one. There's a lot of people that knows about how special you two are and will stop at nothing to get their hands on you. Take care of her, your mom and I will do all we can to protect you and remember, don't let Sofia find out. She's too innocent and pure. I don't know how she'll handle something like this. Anyway, if you find yourselves in any kind of danger, don't hesitate on calling me or your mom, we'll be there as soon as you call us."
I took my phone out and sent a message to my dad about the situation, because I was scared and I felt this lump in my throat that didn't let me speak. The blonde saw me placing my phone inside my pocket and disappeared in thin air in the form of a black mist. I started running towards Sofia when the blonde appeared right in front of me pushing me with such strength that I flew across the whole fucking field and I would've keep going if it weren't for a tree that stopped me. I was on the ground, struggling to breathe because the impact knocked out the air from my lungs.
How's even possible that I'm still alive? Any other person would've died. And then I remembered that I'm special. Looks like one of my gifts is strength. I stood up and saw the blonde getting closer and I whispered for myself that I whished she didn't had the knives. Right after those words left my mouth, a branch from a tree snatched the knives away from her and gave them to me. Her eyes widened and she looked at me pissed. Her eyes turned black and she opened her mouth to reveal very long, ugly looking fangs. I freaked out and in the split of a second, I threw both knives at her impacting her abdomen and heart. In a matter of seconds she was on fire and screaming. After a few seconds, all that was left of her were ashes. Then my breathing turned heavy and I walked away from the pile of ashes searching frantically for Sofia who was running into the woods.

Because you all have been AWESOME enough to vote on this book, I'm going to reveal something to you guys.

Dereck, has the same amount of powers that Sofia has. They're just asleep.
And, if you thought that this book was interesting, wait till you read the next four chapters ;)

Wouldn't it be cool if there were a TV show of this book? Just like The Vampire Diaries or Constantine?
