Chapter 10

Sofia's POV

James and I finished the assignment. I'm so glad that Mathew arrived shortly after we entered James' house. I know that Mandy was a little uncomfortable since it was only us and James. She and Mathew seem to get along pretty well. He's so sweet! He's helping her with her Math and they're even laughing together. I think that they would make a cute couple someday. Around 7;35pm James dropped us in my house. She called her mom and told her that she was going to spend the night at my house since she was still at the mechanic. Her mom agreed and now we're watching 'Supernatural' on Netflix. Strangely, I feel like someone is watching me again. I stood up and walked to the window to see no one there. GOD! I hate this stupid paranoia.

Unknown POV

She still looks as beautiful as always. I can see that she hasn't change a bit. She lost some weight, but I don't mind. My 'love' for her will never die. If that Amanda girl wasn't sleeping with her right now, I would've took her away and made her mine for the whole eternity like I had planed since I first laid my eyes on her. But I can't. I have to be patient. Sofia, babe, You. Will. Be. Mine.

Sofia's POV

I woke up at 5:30, showered, threw my hair on a messy bun, putted on my nerd glasses (I don't need glasses, they're just an accessory), some eye liner, water proof mascara, a tight grey t-shirt, black skinny jeans and a pair of sneakers. I woke my lazy brother up , then ate a french toast with orange juice, waited for Dereck while watching 'Justice League' on Netflix and prepared my backpack. When we arrived at school, I spotted James sitting on a bench and made my way towards him.

"Nerd glasses?" James teased.

"They make me look cool and smart." I defended my look and he chuckled. We hugged and went to class. On second period we sat together in the lab."Ok class. Today we're going to test what happens when we combine...."

"So I was wondering,...were do you come from?" He suddenly asked.

"What?" I was paying attention to were I stepped. I don't want to step on bird poop or a gum or anything that would stick to my shoes.

"Its just that you and your brother have different accents and made me curious." James explained himself.

"Well, my mom, my brother and I were born in Puerto Rico." I answered.

"So you speak Spanish?" He asked.

"Yes, but my brother doesn't. You see, our father's family side is British and our grandfather visits us in the summer and the important holidays. He always offers us to stay with him in London during summer. I went once but I had a very bad experience with the food there and got sick. So I decided to spend time with mom's side of family that live in Puerto Rico, while my brother spends two weeks with our grandfather in London. My brother doesn't do well with tropical weather, so he barely visits them, but he still calls them and text them. He says that if it weren't for the mosquitoes, he would actually spend more time with them. That's why I have Latino accent and speak fluently Spanish and my brother has British accent and only know the basics like 'yes', 'no', 'I'm hungry' and 'where's the bathroom' in Spanish." I explained but got cut off by the teacher calling my names and pairing me with Mark. Annoyed, I sat next to Mark and tried to work. I know that Mr. Gosnell won't let me switch partners, he's too stubborn. James's partner was Steve, who's an extreme nerd. They were working when suddenly our experiment blew up because Mark added dangerous stuff to it while I wasn't paying attention. BIG MISTAKE!

James' POV

I was working with this guy who kept talking about some chemicals and their effect on superheroes.
"So, Superman's weakness is kryptonite only because...." DUDE! I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT IT! SHUT THE HELL UP!
Sofia was on the third table behind me, so it was kind of hard to be able to look at her since this guy that sat on the table in front of hers blocked the view. Suddenly, there was an explosion. I stood up and turned around to try to see whose experiment blew, but everybody panicked and ran out from the lab dragging me with them.
Mr. Gosnell locked the door to prevent any of the poisonous vapors from the experiment to spread any further. Then he pressed the alarm button and took everybody out. We were all outside waiting for the police and fire department to arrive. Then I noticed that Sofia was nowhere to be found.

"Where's Sofia?" I asked/shouted to everyone and with a few heads looking around and replies they said that they didn't know. Then I stormed towards Mark, who also said that he didn't knew. I want to snap that motherfucker's neck so bad right know, but I can't, I have to find Sofia and make sure that she's okay. Then I can snap his neck. Wait! That would be too easy. I'll torture him a LOT until I get bored, then I'll snap his neck. Yeah, that's a better plan. I moved past him searching for her and realized that she didn't got out from the lab. SHIT!!!

Without thinking twice Dereck and I went back inside to search for Sofia. I assume that Dereck was in the same class as us since he and Sofia are twins. Yesterday, Sofia told me a little about him when I asked her who he was. I saw then together a dew times and I felt a little uneasy when I saw her with other guy. When she told me that he's her twin brother, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. We broke the lab's door with a fire extinguisher and covered our noses with our shirts to protect us from the poisonous vapors. I don't need to cover mine since I'm a vampire, but I did because Dereck was with me and I don't want him to suspect anything. We split looking for her and calling out her name when I found her on the floor with her eyes closed shut and barely breathing.
"SOFIA!" Dereck yelled when he saw her. He picked her up bridal style and ran outside with me following behind. He placed her on the bench that I sat on this morning. Dereck started shaking her waiting for a response but she was still unconscious. I noticed that her heart beat was slowing down. FUCK! I panicked, so I picked her up, placed her in the passenger's seat of my car and drove like a maniac to the hospital. With every passing second, her heartbeat slowed down and she started coughing, struggling to breathe. I parked in front of the hospital and turned off my car. I bit my right index finger to feed her one drop of my blood, so she would heal a little.

"Wha-what...are...you...doing?" She asked in her almost unconscious state and grabbing my wrist which sent a wave of electricity and warmth through my body.

"Shhh. I'm taking away the pain." I cooed her and she nodded releasing my wrist. If I could, I would've gave her all my blood, but that would mean my death and I wouldn't be around to protect her. I brushed my index finger with the blood over her bottom lip. her lips are so soft. I wonder how they would feel against my own. She licks her lips tasting my blood, then she gulps. Her breathing normalized in seconds and then she passed out, but her breathing and heart beat are somewhat normal. I carried her to the hospital and called doctor Steven. He is an old friend from the family and also one of the oldest vampires I know of. He guided me to a room were I laid her on the bed and he started working on her as soon as I took a step back. Then a nurse pulled me out and took me to the waiting area were Dereck sat on one of the chairs. He probably followed us. He has his face buried in his hands. I don't sit. I can't! I'm too worried to even think about sitting, so I stand there staring at the door of the room where I left Sofia. Steven better save her or else. The amount of blood I gave her will only give her about six hours. If Steven doesn't give her the right treatment, there's a high chance that the poison will continue with its damage and......But I know that he will save her. He has to.

Twenty minutes later, a man and a woman burst through the front door searching frantically for someone. They spot Dereck and they run towards him.

"What happened?!" The woman asks, but Dereck shakes his head and stays hidden behind his hands. Then Dr. Steven comes out the door with a clipboard on his right hand and some blood on his white coat. I hurry towards him and Dereck does also. His eyes are bloodshot from crying and his cheeks are wet because of the tears. The woman and the man follow and stand in front of Dereck. Then finally Dr. Stevens speaks up.

"Sofia is......"
