James' POV

We sat on the L shaped couch. She took off her shoes and sat crossed legged in the left corner of the couch. I smiled at her. She dug into her backpack looking for the things we needed with her eyebrows furrowed in concentration. Her dark brown curly hair fell under her shoulders almost reaching her belly button. She looked up to me, probably feeling my stare and a slight blush crept over her cheeks.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" She asked worried and I laughed shaking my head sideways.

"You're something else." I replied and she smiled still clueless at my growing feelings towards her.

After three hours of laughing, talking, writing, searching, and some playful teasing from me, we finished the first part from the English assignment. It was 6:47pm already and I knew that Sofia had to leave soon.

"Well, I gotta go now." Sofia said standing up and I stood up also.

"Where are you going?" I asked. Not just because I wanted to know, but also because I wanted to give her a ride. I want to make sure that she's safe, that nothing happens to her.

"Um...I'm going home. My parents have a flight today, God know where, and I have to be home before nine to say goodbye." She answered looking down.

"Oh! Well,...I can give you a ride." I offered and she shook her head.

"Its okay, really. I can walk home, plus I have to go somewhere else before I get home. Bye James! See ya tomorrow!" She hugged me way too quickly and got out of my house. I stood there in front of the couch dumbfounded. I really didn't wanted her to go, but then my brother's advice surfaced in my mind and I kept myself from following her or saying anything more. 'But you didn't listened to Michael's advice when you brought her home. It'll be completely fine if you give her a ride, plus you don't want anything bad to happen to her, right?' My subconscious told me and I couldn't agree more. I grabbed my wallet and my car keys and stepped out the front door. I got into my car and drove away. I looked frantically sideways searching for her. Then I spotted her walking on the sidewalk with an emotionless expression on her face. I rolled down the passenger's window and slowed down to match her speed.

"Sofia!" She turned around and when she saw me she stopped and I did also.

"Hey!" She waved. "What are you doing?" She asked.

"I'm going to give you a ride whether you like it or not." I said.

"James, really I'm fine. A little walking won't do any harm to me." She said smiling at my persistence.

"Sofia, its getting dark. Please. Let me give you a ride. I'll sleep better at night knowing that you're safe." Shit! I didn't mean to reveal that last part. Now she'll freak out and run away. But I really want to keep her safe. This girl makes me feel things that I've never felt before and I really enjoy her company. I was shocked by the closing sound of the passenger's door and I immediately turned my head in that direction. Sofia was buckling her seat belt with a faint smile. I looked away feeling completely embarrassed for what I said earlier. After a few minutes of aimlessly driving, I stopped at a red light.

"Um...can you drop me at the mall?" Sofia asked looking at me with the same faint smile.

"Uh...sure."

Sofia's POV

"Thank you. Um...I'm going to the food court there, do you want to come?" I asked.

"Sure." He answered and continued driving and I noticed that he had a smirk on his face.
