Did I hear that correctly?
For some reason, I couldn't move an inch, I was just standing there with my mouth wide open. I was arguing with myself on whether I did hear him correctly or not, because that sounded surreal.
I was still standing on my spot until I felt his presence behind me and turning me around to face him. His face didn't show that he was joking, neither did it show that he was lying, he was dead serious.
"What?" I managed to let out after minutes of trying to find my voice.
"Yeah" he nodded "Hildegarde and I are not married. And she's not pregnant with my child. She's not even pregnant at all"
I think I'm hearing him say that just because I'm a bit sleepy.
"Why do you love lying so much? Aren't you tired of this shit?" I snapped at him.
"I'd never lie to you Sel"
"Oh really?" I raised an eyebrow and scoffed "what have you been doing all along then?"
He looked up from the ground and straight into my eyes "protecting you"
I just.....Why do I feel like believing him?
"Will you just stop playing mind games with me? My feelings aren't the football you're used to kicking recklessly everyday" I spat as I tired to get his hands off me.
"No, listen...." he insisted and tightened his grip on my arms "it's true. I have been hiding something from you. But now it's time I tell you everything"
That made me soften up a bit.
He started pulling my hands until we got to the seashore where he made me sit down and he took a seat beside me. We took about 5 minutes just sitting in silence and looking at the end where the ocean meets the sky until I could not take it anymore.
"Well...?" I started.
"What?"
"Aren't you gonna talk?"
"I don't know where to start from" he said "all I want you to know is that I did this for you. I broke your heart for your own sake"
"Well I wanna know why you 'broke my heart for my own sake' so stop talking in riddles and get to the fucking point!"
He turned away from the ocean and stared into my eyes again "I was forced to do this"
"What're you talking about?"
"That night you and Perrie saw hilde with a baby bump at mo's house warming party, the time Perrie saw me going to Hildegarde's place on my way to training, the hickey, the text message you saw, everything was staged. None of that was true. Not even the marriage and the baby" he said "I was forced into letting you think they were so you could break up with me and never want anything to do with me ever again. I was forced to let you go and lose you for the 3rd time"
"You have no idea how broken I was when I saw you crying that night. It hurt so bad. And I hated how I couldn't do anything to stop it. It was like having my whole world destroyed right in front of me"
I didn't even realize when a tear fell from my eyes "but....why didn't you tell me?" I Asked.
"Because I didn't want to put you at risk" he replied "that's why I called you here at midnight when no one would notice. If they see me here with you, they won't hesitate to kill you. I know they won't"
They? Who are they?
"What're you saying? Who are you talking about?" I Asked with a cracked voice.
