The Sickness

The sun begins to rise in the Pridelands, and Kovu is still not doing very well. He didn't get much sleep last night, due to his immense pain. Kiara gets up to go see Kovu, and finds him with blood dripping out of his mouth. She walks over to him and nuzzles him. Kovu wakes up as Simba and Nala wake up too. They gather around Kovu and begin to talk.

"Kovu, you look very ill," Nala faltered.

Kovu struggles to lift his head with a grunt. "I should be fine; I think I just need some more rest."

"Kovu, you're sick," Kiara says before turning to her dad. "We need to take him to Rafiki."

"Rafiki left the Pridelands last night. He won't be back for a couple of days," Simba adds.

"What will we do?" Kiara asks.

"We'll have to wait and see if Kovu gets better," Nala tells her as Kovu lays his head back down.

Kiara stays silent, trying to think of what to do. Simba is about to add something Kiara gets an idea, "That's it! We can go to the Tree of Life," Kiara tells them.

"Kiara, we just came back from the Tree of Life."

"Then Kovu and I can go. He's not going to get any better waiting, and besides, it's faster than waiting on Rafiki."

Simba stays silent, unsure as to whether he should let the future king and queen leave on their own. "I don't know if it's safe for you guys to go alone."

"Daddy, please, we don't have another choice! I mean, look at him."

Simba looks down at Kovu, who's struggling to keep his eyes open, "And you guys think you can make it there? He doesn't look very energetic."

"Once he gets up and moving, yeah. We can make it; we'll even take the fast way there."

Simba sighs, "Alright, I'll send Zazu later to see if you made it there, okay."

Kiara gets behind Kovu and pushes him onto his feet, with her head helping him get up.

"We will be back in a couple of days."

"Stay safe, Kiara," Nala tells her as they begin to leave.

"Where are we going?" Kovu asks in a cracked voice.

"Were you not listening?"

"You guys were talking?"

Kiara and Kovu begin their journey to the Tree of Life. As the sun starts to rise over the Tree of Life, Shabozi and his prowl prepare for their attack on the cheetah. As the four leopards wait, Makini walks down into the lair to see Kion and Rani still sleeping. She walks over to Kion and scratches the back of his ear, waking him up.

"Come on; it's time to get up," Makini whispers.

"Oh, right, I'll wake Rani up."

Rani wakes up due to Kion's whispers.

"Or maybe I won't," Kion says, smirking at Rani.

"Alright, come up soon, I'll go wake the guard."

"Looks like she is more serious now," Rani says after Makini left the lair.

"Yeah, she's become a really good helper."

"Same for you, you have become a good helper too," Rani reassures.
