Chapter 12: Kion's Disappearance

Kion's Disappearance 

Kion wakes up with Kiara, lying in the grass. He looks up at the sky and realizes that it's midday. As he yawns, Kiara wakes up next to him. Kion gets up and begins to stretch. Kiara gets up too, and they start to talk.

"That was a good nap," Kion says, still stretching.

"Yeah, but I'm still worried about Kovu. I'm going to go check on him, see how he's doing," Kiara tells him.

"Alright. Oh, also, if you see Rani, tell her I'm going on a run."

"Are you going on a run?" Kiara says sarcastically.

Kion chuckles. "Yeah," he says as he begins to walk off.

Kiara heads inside the Tree to see Rani laying on her rock and Makini working on the remedies.

"Oh Kiara! Perfect timing, the remedies are ready," Makini says as she puts down her bowl.

"Oh right, I'll go get Kovu."

Kiara turns around and heads outside, where she begins to search for Kovu. Kion is searching for a trail near the outskirts of the land, to start his run. Something caught him off Guard; a scent. It was a lioness, perhaps even two lionesses, and Kion begins to ponder about the smell. He knows it isn't a scent he's caught before. This is new, and he can definitely make out that they're females, and more importantly, intruders. Kion looks around, but he starts to lose the scent. A few moments later, it's gone. He thinks to himself that it might've just been a lion that was outside of the realm, and that their scent got carried by the wind. He continues on his run but is still on alert.

Kiara arrives with Kovu at the Tree, bringing him down to the lair. Kovu lays down as Kiara sits and watches.

"This won't take long, but once you finish, go for a walk and get your energy going."

"Okay," Kovu says as he sits his head down.

Makini begins rubbing liquids and seasons little pieces of meat, feeding them to Kovu. The meat is laced with the remedy. Makini is feeding Kovu, and at the same time, healing him. After some time goes by, Rani decides to get up and head outside as the smell of fresh meat makes her hungry. Kiara follows her outside, and they begin to talk.

"Oh, hello Kiara," Rani says, just now seeing that she followed her out.

"Hey, just wanted to ask how you and Kion are doing," Kiara says as they both sit down outside at the base of the Tree.

Rani chuckles, "We've been fine; he's helped me out a lot."

"You know, Kion really does like you, it's something I've never seen before."

"Really?" Rani asks with a smirk on her face.

"Oh yeah, I don't think Kion would do anything to ruin the relationship between you guys."

"Speaking of Kion, where is he?"

"Oh, right. He's on a run."

"Ah, okay," Rani says, looking at the cliffs to see if she can spot him.

"Does he do that a lot?" Kiara asks, worrying if Kion is away from her too much.

"Yeah, he does it so he can keep up with his stamina. He runs a lot, and I get why."

"Are you okay with him being gone all the time?"

"He's not gone all the time; we still spend a lot of time together."
