Chapter 42

"Remus! What did you do!" nothing was about to stop my angry girlfriend,

"hi," I hesitated as madame Pomfrey wrapped up my hand, there I was surrounded by 3 confused friends and one very angry girlfriend. Why don't we start at the beginning.

I had been trying to figure out how to ask Viel to the yule ball for the past 5 days with no success. Than suddenly I had a dreamed that gave me a great idea.

I decided to share my dream without details to Siruis, who than stole my idea to invite Estelle, remember her? Yeah, one of Viel's friends, she didn't take it well.

Viel warned Siruis way back in September to not try and flirt with her friends. She had told Siruis they were off limits. He got a bit of a beating, though she dropped it when she heard Estelle was more than happy to go with Siruis.

So there I was back at square one, I was trying to think of something else when it hit me, literally I was hit by it, or a part of it at least.

The yule ball was just a couple of weeks from now, everyone was starting to get excited about it, or stressed.

Girls were discussing dresses and planning their evenings. Even Viel seemed excited.

Though as her friends slowly started finding partners for the evening Viel started to get questioned more often.

"are you going to even go?" one girl asked,
"Why do you keep pushing everyone who asks you away," another girl mentioned,

I knew she was expecting me to ask her, after all it normal right? Even if we were secretly dating, we were still dating. Or was she just not planning on going?

We could go as friends, but if she doesn't want anyone knowing she might turn me down.

It was a quiet Friday evening in the griffyondor common room. No one had planned game night, instead everyone went to bed.

No visitors from the other houses. I was sitting alone in the common room, reading quietly when lily came down the stairs.

"oh," she seemed surprised, "you're still awake Remus?" she asked but it seemed more like she was hoping I wasn't here,

"I was reading, are you expecting someone? Do you want me to leave?"

Her expression answer mine question but she still denied it, "oh no, it's fine don't worry,"

"okay, I'm off to bed," I decided I wouldn't argue with her, I'd just leave,

"okay, good night!"

I did actually plan on leaving but as lily opened the common room door, I recognized my girlfriend's footsteps.

Why did lily desperately not want me there if it was just Viel coming in?

"you called?" Viel's tired voice asked as she yawned,

"yes I wanted to talk about something, nothing to serious don't worry,"

"Alright," I heard them sit down on the couches in the common room, I knew it was wrong to spy on them but I stay hidden behind the wall.

"Viel what's the matter with you lately?"

"what?" Viel seemed confused, "I'm just like I always am,"

"I'm talking about the yule ball,"

"oh god," Viel sighed, "not you too,"

"Viel ! You keep saying no to everyone! I mean maybe you don't like James, maybe Adrian is a bit wierd, maybe Connor is a little to demanding but come on! There's got to be someone?"

Viel didn't answer, knowing her she simply shrugged,

"if you were planning on going with a maurader they are all already taken," lily finished by saying,

"what?" Viel seemed shocked, so was I, why would lily say that?

"Peter is going with Mary, Siruis with Estelle and James with Me, you already know that!"

"what about Remus?" Viel was being way to open about her concerns but at the same time I couldn't blame her for it, she was currently convinced I had asked someone else to the ball.

"Viel, you haven't even admitted to Remus that you like him," expect she had, "do you really expect him to ask you when you've constantly pushed him away,"

"yes I do," I could hear the pain in Viel's voice, all I wanted to do was barge in and stop lily from speaking, hug my girlfriend and ask her to go with me now.

"Viel, I'm not saying this to be cruel, but you can't expect so much out of Remus, at this point he has the right to believe he'll never have a chance with you,"

"you're probably right," Viel seemed so heart broken, why was lily doing this and most importantly how was I going to fix it?
