GRADUATION DAY

Waking up to cheering from my parents, I can't believe it's finally this day. I have been looking forward to this day since I left high school and entered University. I always knew I was going to do Law, it was just in me. I have always wanted to be an Attorney and maybe some day have my own law firm. "Anna!"  I hear my mother knocking excitedly on my door for the hundredth time. "I'm up" I say smiling as I wake up to make my bed and get ready for the ceremony which is at 2 pm and it's only 7:30 am, so I have a lot of time to prepare and travel one hour to my campus where the graduation will take place.

I look myself in the mirror and take in what I'm seeing. I'm really proud of how far I have come despite all the challenges I have encountered, this is it, I am graduating and moving to a new city where I'll be interning at a law firm. My phone rings as I am about to exit my bedroom.

"hey my sexy graduate" Mark says before I get the chance to speaks first.

"Morning Baby" I smile as I listen to him telling me that he just arrived this morning from Cape Town.

"Mark I'll be driving with my parents I told you this" I wait for him to say something, but he accepts what I tell him. I would have loved to arrive with him at my graduation considering how  supportive he has been throughout my University life, but My parents deserve this moment too. We have been together for 6 years, although we are in a long distance relationship at the moment due to him finding a job in Cape Town we are still very much in love.

"I can't wait for you to come and Work in Cape Town" he says. "It's an internship remember, I have to work my butt off to be permanently part of Simmons and Adkins" I say. "I know, but I can't wait till we live together" he adds before I can further speak "See you in a bit, I love you" he says and hangs up after I tell him I love him too.

Yeah, I applied for jobs everywhere, but I was really crossing fingers to get something in Cape Town and I did. I was so excited when I was called, because I was stressed about where to do my articles and the day "Simmons and Adkins" law firm called me to begin with them soon after I graduated I was over the moon.

The rest of the morning is hectic, hectic, hectic and by the time I'm done, it's 11:30 "Let's get going honey, we don't want to be late!" my dad calls my mom from the house. The drive to Durban is filled with memories of the first time I traveled with my parents to my student accommodation four years ago. How the time flies...

As we enter the campus gates the atmosphere just screams sleepless nights, noodles for dinner and many days spent at the library, but all in all I just look out the window at all the parents tearing up or taking pictures with their children. It's a good and rewarding feeling to make parents proud. I look down at my phone and still Mark hasn't texted back.

I make my way out of the car with my parents by my side, A beautiful dress, gorgeous hair and lots of makeup. "Oh My God Anna!" I turn around to a lovely looking Yolanda. "Oh wow girl look at you!" we hug eachother and I greet her parents as she does mine.

We make our way inside the hall and still nothing  from Mark. I sit uneasily, but decide to enjoy my graduation day, his battery must've died.
