Alone

Maybe it's supposed to be this way
What I'm not meant to see.
The happiness and joy
The person that I could be.

I gave my heart to him
I gave it all away.
But in the end it broke me
Because he couldn't stay.

Now I see how it is
Alone, I have to be.
No happiness to be found
Apart from this misery.

It's been so long
Yet still my heart won't give.
People have come and gone
But they have not made me live.

I know I have to let go
I know I have to move on.
But whenever I think of it
My heart just can't go on.

They say you never let go
What you feel from your first love.
Now I know what they mean
Because I felt that love.

But now it is gone
And heart is still sore...
For that first love once given
Now is no more....

He has moved on
Which I too must do.
But for now I see
What it is I must do...

Now I see how it is
Alone, I have to be.
