Monday morning comes and the clouds have rolled in. Laine and I exit the car wave goodbye to my mom and walk on campus. It feels like any typical day, people saying hey to Laine as usual and ignoring me. I walk to my locker and get my science book out and head to class.

"People are saying Thea put Katie in the hospital are you sure she just pushed her?"

"Yeah dude I was there and Tatyana recorded it."

"Well if this rumor gets to the principal Tatyana better get that video ready."

"I don't think it's that serious Laine."

"Maybe not." Science is another weird class I don't understand, but tolerate. I always think about what else could be in this universe that we just aren't noticing. Scientists are trained to look at the science aspect of things, but I would look beyond that I would look at every small detail to make sure I'm not missing anything. I think high school is like our universe. The popular kids are like the scientists they only care about what happens within their clique. Everybody else including me are the small details that make the high school look big and intimidating to newcomers. The bell for class to start rings and Mr. Russell starts off class by telling us our only homework is to go out into the world and find something we've never noticed in our environment and then write about why we feel we've missed it. Class today is easy because all we're doing is watching a video. We have two more weeks left of school which means finals is next week. Thirty minutes into the video two students come in giggling I can't believe I didn't notice my best friend was missing. Thea and Kamran walk into biology late. This isn't normal for Thea she is usually on time this is her favorite class, and she is always talking about how she needs to stay focused because colleges look at everything.

"Jordan hey! How's it going?"

"Are you okay?"

"Why do you always ask me that?"

"Well, I actually want to know today, Thea!"

"Are you mad?"

"Why are you late?"

"Kamran and I were hanging out and then we lost track of time."

"Hanging out where?"

"He came over last night and we fell asleep watching Netflix."

"Your parents didn't care?"

"They came home so late from work they didn't even bother to check on us and my door was locked."

"Thea what happened between Saturday and today?"

"Saturday I spent the night at your house and yesterday Kamran spent the night at mine. Are you mad?"

"I guess I can't be it's your life, but is this going to be a new Thea?"

"No today was an exception. Kamran and I have gotten close these past few days I think he might genuinely like me."

"What happened to take it slow?"

"We are, but..."

"Thea and Jordan no talking while watching the film." Thea turned and faced the screen, and that was the last thing she said to me until lunch. School is going by fast today, but I can't help but feel this weird tension between Thea and I.

"Laine how was your weekend?"

"Not as eventful as yours Thea."

"Oh, you heard about Friday?"

"Also Saturday, Sunday, and this morning. Apparently, rumors spread fast."

"Nothing too serious I hope?"
