When we wake up in the morning Tatyana is cooking breakfast in the kitchen.
"This is new."
"Yeah I'm sorry for what I said last night I was just in shock. So I thought maybe it's time you go see Thea."
"I can't."
"I know you're scared, but don't you think it's about time you face your fears? She's dying Jordan, and there's not much time left for you to be waiting."
"Why don't you cry in front of people?"
"Jordan stop changing the subject."
"It's just a question."
"I don't cry period it's a waste of time."
"I don't believe that, this is your sister and you just expect me to think you don't cry behind closed doors or when people aren't around?"
"I don't expect you to believe anything. Tears aren't going to wake Thea up."
"Nor will I Tatyana, if Thea wants to wake up then she will wake up, but I will not have power over waking her up. This isn't just some movie where I see her and then she hears me and wakes up. She will wake up on her own time."
"I'm not saying that. I'm just saying maybe if she senses that you are there it will trigger something and within reasonable timing, she will wake up."
"What is reasonable timing to you?" The fire alarm in the RV goes off.
"Oh shit my bacon boi!"
I think we might have to drive into town for breakfast. I laugh because Laine and Jacob ran out of their tents and are now staring at us in the RV and Chelsea is standing in the doorway.
"What happened?" Chelsea asks
"Jordan distracted me and I almost blew up the RV."
"That's why we call ourselves the bomb squad." I laugh and tell everyone to get dressed, and we'll walk to the diner that's 10 minutes from the lake. On our way to the diner, we take pictures, and watch other families having fun. None of them look like they have a care in the world. Meanwhile our group is only here to keep our minds off of Thea. So far though it isn't working and after what Laine told me last night I can't stop thinking of Thea lying in that bed.
"Thea would have loved this," Laine says and everyone gets silent for a couple of seconds.
"She probably would have hated it! My sister hates hiking."
"She loved science though, and she would have loved stargazing and looking at all the nature around us." Laine sighs
"Don't worry we'll have to come back when she wakes up." I say to lighten the mood, but everyone looks doubtful. We make it to the diner and wait to be seated. For some reason I have a weird feeling in my stomach like something is about to happen, but I just can't figure out if it's because I'm hungry or because of all of the conversations about Thea. When we get seated, we order our food and talk about what we want to do today.
"I saw a zip line across the lake we can do that today." Jacob suggests.
"Yeah and I saw a sign for a concert at the main stage in the campground." Chelsea explains
"Well, I'm down to do whatever the bomb squad needs more dope ass pics for Instagram."
"I thought you said people don't say dope anymore?" I look at Tatyana and smile.
"It's only cool when I say it because I got swag."
"Okay we are one year apart, but I'm pretty sure people don't say swag anymore either."
