Two weeks pass since the night of the bonfire, Chelsea and I have been hanging out just the two of us. Laine has been practicing with a guy from the drama club or at least they say they're practicing. Tatyana is planning on fighting with her sister sometime this week and she still hasn't explained how she is going to do it. She just keeps saying it's going to be lit. The next step after that is to get people to see what a monster Thea has become. The next party we are going to is a pajama rave at some abandoned parking garage. Nobody knows who's hosting the party, but it's supposed to be the party of the summer, and it's also going to be the night people stop talking to Thea. Chelsea is coming over tonight to meet my parents and to be honest I'm happy, aside from ruining my ex-best friend's summer, my love life has never been better. My mom is excited to meet her because ever since Thea's change, not many girls come through our house anymore. I walk out to the front where dad is washing his car, and I sit down on the grass.
"Hey, dad."
"Hey Jordan, what's up?"
"Not much just thinking."
"Thinking about anything important?"
"Just life."
"That sounds important."
"Why do people make bad changes?"
"Is this about Thea?"
"Yeah I guess."
"Jordan, sometimes people reach a point where they feel like being nice isn't getting them anywhere so they feel like all they can do is be bad for people to pay attention to them."
"But Laine and I paid attention to her before she was bad."
"Maybe she just got tired of everybody else not seeing her the same way you do."
"It just doesn't make sense."
"Jordan you always try to make sense of things, but sometimes things just don't add up so you have to ignore them."
"How can you just ignore things that don't add up? How can you just let bad things get worse and not do anything about it?"
"You just do, if you love something set it free, and if it comes back then that's how it will be. You can't just stop your life to let the rest of the world catch up to you."
"I guess you're right, but what if Thea never comes back? What do I do then?"
"You support her anyway and love her unconditionally."
"Okay."
"Jordan I'm sure she'll come to her senses soon, she's just a little lost at the moment."
"I hope so dad."
"I love you Jordan."
"I love you too, dad!" Chelsea drives up and I walk over to her.
"Hey, you look beautiful."
"Thank you!"
"Is this the infamous Chelsea?" Dad turns the hose off and walks over to us, Chelsea extends her hand, but dad pulls her into a hug.
"Let's go inside my wife has been waiting a lifetime to meet you." Chelsea locks her doors and we follow my dad into the house where my mom is setting the table for dinner.
"OH, MY GOD!!! You're here!" Mom runs up to Chelsea and gives her a hug.
"Hi Mrs. Dante, I bought some flowers for you."
"Call me Jackeline, and they're beautiful honey let me get these into some water have a seat. Dinner will be out shortly." I pull out a chair for Chelsea and she sits down. I sit down next to her and dad sits across the table.
