Don't Give Up On Me

Chapter 9

 I wake up on Friday and go for a run around my neighborhood to clear my head before tonight. I hope everything goes as planned. We are supposed to arrive at the party, and Laine is going to walk away from us to find Thea. The whole idea is that people are expected to see this fight between the two of them and start to think about Thea differently. Laine is well-known at Edenbury and a lot more popular than Thea. He has a lot to do with whether or not people stay at the top of the social hierarchy or fall. I'm sure Laine doesn't even know how powerful he is, or he doesn't care because he is a good person so he'd rather be a good friend to everyone. After my run, I go home, eat, and get in the shower. Laine is in his room practicing for some elite acting club that he wants to audition for in the fall. If he gets into it, they have connections with all of the ivy league performing arts schools you can think of. When I get out of the shower, I look in my closet at all of the new clothes Tatyana chose for me. I decide to go with something comfortable considering tonight is just the first night of many parties we will be attending this summer. After getting dressed, I call Tatyana.

"Hey, are you sure Thea is going to be there tonight?"

"Yeah, it's Shayla's bonfire so she has to be there if she wants to remain a friend of America's Next Top Slut! Haha."

"Tatyana keep it cool tonight everything is about Laine ending it with Thea."

"I know, but I was thinking about getting into a fight with her tonight after the party."

"Don't you think that's too much for one night?"

"She's had worse."

"I don't know I think we should see how it goes tonight with Laine."

"Okay, but I'm ready for this Dante my blood is on fire and I'm ready for some summer scheming."

"You seriously scare me sometimes."

"We're making memories Jordan one day we'll look back and say, 'Remember that time you bullied Thea to be friends with you again' and laugh, hahaha."

"No Tatyana, the point of this is that Thea can never know."

"Not even in the future when the both of you are old and saggy and dying next to each other?"

"Tatyana why do you make me question your integrity sometimes."

"Because I'm freaking human and I'm trying to make some lit ass memories with my Edenbury High friends."

"You are maniacal."

"I'm Tatyana Blackwell Bitch!"

We decide we should meet up before going to pick Chelsea up so we can go over what exactly Laine is going to say. We hang up, and I get Laine so we can get on the road.

"I'm nervous about tonight."

"Treat it as just another scene in a play this will all be over soon and then you'll be right back to being best friends."

"Do you believe that?"

"I have to I was sitting in my room Wednesday night, and I realized that we have been friends way too long just to let Thea mess up her life like this. We have to do something about it, and this might be the only way to make her see."

"I'm sure there's an easier way."

"Well, great then Laine! Let's hear another way you want to go about this, because right now Thea could be signing her early graduation request."

"I don't have another way, but.."

"But nothing it's just how we have to go through with this at the moment."
