Finals week goes by and everyone is already in summer mode. Next week the seniors graduate so they don't come to school. Ever since I changed my style people say hi to me a lot more, but we don't have any conversations past that to make me consider us as friends. On Monday afternoon when we got home dad surprised me with a new Jeep. Apparently, my parents thought I needed a car so Laine and I could drive wherever and whenever we want since we are an hour away from friends and school. Everyday after school this week we've hung out with Tatyana and Chelsea; occasionally we see Thea, but she just walks by without acknowledging any of us. Today is Saturday and we decide to go roller skating, nobody does that anymore so we thought it would be cool. We hang out at Tatyana's house until it's time to go roller skating, luckily for me Thea isn't home just her parents.
"How's Thea been?"
"She's been hanging out with Kamran everyday. The other day he came over for dinner and my parents were concerned about his age and the fact that he is going to college soon."
"Are they that serious?"
"Yeah, Thea is thinking about graduating early and going to school with Kamran."
"It's been three weeks! Does she think he's going to wait a year for her to graduate?"
"Yeah we know that, but she said she has nothing left here for her."
"What did your parents say?"
"Well, obviously they told her to wait and see how the summer goes, but at the same time they don't want her to resent them for not letting her go."
"So basically they are going to allow her to make a huge mistake so that she doesn't hate them?"
"Basically."
"I hope she changes her mind."
"Well, we have a year to change her mind."
"I don't think we should get involved."
"Jordan, it's Thea! We can't just let her go through with this she's supposed to graduate with you and Laine and go to college where she wants to go and not where Kamran Walker wants to go."
"I'm done chasing after Thea if she wants to ruin her life let her do it!"
"Is this because of Chelsea?"
"No, but it's also not fair to Chelsea for me to put so much time into another girl who isn't Chelsea and who doesn't care about me."
"Fine. When is Chelsea coming over anyways?"
"We will meet her at her house in half an hour." We spend the rest of our time playing Black Ops and as we head outside we say goodbye to Tatyana's parents. Kamran and Thea pull up to the driveway and I decide to go to the car and wait for Laine and Tatyana.
"Hey, Jordan!" Kamran says with a smile on his face; I wave and get into my car. Laine says hi to Kamran and Thea and then joins me in the car after five minutes, but Tatyana talks to Thea for a while.
"Dude that was cold."
"What was I supposed to do Laine say hi and thank you for changing my best friend, by the way, do you wanna hang out sometime?"
"Well no, but you want Thea to be your friend again, right?"
"I don't know anymore you learn a lot about a person when they choose to be influenced by popularity."
"What about me, I'm popular?"
"Yeah, and you are still a good person Laine. Thea is not the same she looks tired, she's making bad decisions, and still thinks how she treated Katie is normal."
