We found Midnight in the dormitory after all our classes.
“I can’t believe that you beat Amy and then walked out.” I said.
“You know you’re going to be her new target right?” Bella said.
“That was the plan.” Midnight replied.
“What, you are saying you wanted that you want to be her punching bag?” Chantelle asked.
“I didn’t want to but I couldn’t stand to see how much pain Sarah was in.” Midnight replied.
“Wait, you did this for me?” I asked.
“Now don’t go mushy on me I just don’t like to see people in pain. It just makes me mad.” Midnight answered.
“It’s just that I thought you didn’t care I always thought of you as a tough sort of person.” I said.
“Yes, well everyone has feelings, except for Amy. She’s soulless.” Midnight said smirking. We all laugh. Afterwards, the subject changed; we talked the rest of the evening until we had to turn the lights out. But I couldn’t sleep all I could think about is Amy lying flat on the floor in the arena. I turned to face the other bed, Midnight wasn’t there. That’s odd. Where is she? That was the last question before my eyes shut; I went into a deep trance of sleep.
The next morning, it’s Saturday, no classes. I get up. The others have already gone to the bathrooms. I get dressed. Walk out of the dorm and go down the hall way. I yawned and stretched out my arms; I crashed into another student. It was Adam Randall a guy in my biology class. He had black hair with a side fringe; he was wearing a red lumberjack shirt with white t-shirt underneath it; a pair of doc martins and jeans. His eyes were an unusual shade of green.
“Sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going.” I said.
“No, it’s not your fault I wasn’t looking where I was going either. Have you seen Midnight? I wanted to talk to her.” he answered
“I think she’s in the bathroom.” I replied.
“Thanks.” he said and walks away.
I walk the same way as him, towards the bathrooms. Then Midnight walks out from behind the door carrying a towel on her shoulder and a bag. Adam taps her shoulder. She turns around and starts to talk to him. I walk into the bathrooms. I see Bella and Chantelle and walk over to them. They are putting on make-up.
“Finally you’re up.” Chantelle said as she spread red lipstick over her lips.
“Do you want to borrow some?”Bella asked as she held out a pink sticky tube of mascara.
“No thanks, I think I’m good for today.” I replied.
“I can’t wait for Friday.” Chantelle said. She said as she gathered her make-up. Bella did the same and we all headed for the door.
“Why?” I asked pushing the door open.
We are fighting against monsters next week in Battle. Have you ever seen a monster?” Chantelle asked.
“No.” I said.
“Neither have I.” Bella said.
Midnight walked down the corridor and towards us.
“Where have you been?” Bella asked.
“I was talking to Adam.” Midnight answered.
“I think you were doing more than just talking.” Bella mumbled. Midnight rolled her eyes.
“You are so dirty. What were you talking about?” Midnight asked.
“We were talking about fighting monsters in Battle” Chantelle answered.
“I think it’s going to be fun watching everyone freak out when they’re there,” Midnight said.
We talked about this for the rest of the evening.
