luke skywalker stared out his bedroom window, looking down on all the people that roamed the town. he did this every morning for an hour. the houses were so interesting to him, and just all the things people were able to do whenever they wanted.
"luke, it's time for breakfast!" leia called as she ran to his room, stopping in the doorway. "you aren't even dressed!"
"what do you think it's like down there?" luke asked, ignoring his twin sister as he continued watching. she just sighed and walked over, leaning on the window sill with him.
"i don't know, do you want to find out?" he turned his attention over to her instantly, confused. she just giggled and pulled him away from the window. "it isn't that hard to sneak out of this place, luke."
-
luke stumbled slightly as leia pulled him by his hand through the hall. he was forced by her to get dressed, but he was willing to do so if it meant he could leave the castle alone. luke had been outside of course, but it was only if someone was with him, and it was still only for small walks near the castle.
"how is this gonna work?" luke asked, slowing down as leia did. she shushed him.
"just sneak out the backdoor when i signal you and wait by the old tree." she left their hiding spot from the hall, walking casually into the cooking area.
he watched her talk to the cooks for a minute or so, when she suddenly gave a hand signal behind her back. luke nodded to her back, cursing himself mentally for it, and snuck through the other part of the kitchen to the back door.
the escape was successful, luke just hoped none of the maids were looking out the windows as he ran over to the tree he had to wait at. he realised he had no idea how leia planned to leave. he sat by the stump of the tree, picking at the grass.
five minutes passed when leia finally came out, skipping over to him. she was giggling as she finally stopped in front of him, "are you ready to have the best day ever?" luke's eyes lit up.
-
they easily got outside the gates, only because leia had stolen a key. "they probably have dozens of these!" she had said when he questioned her on it. luke didn't really care though, he was too happy to think about the consequences. "so, where to first?"
leia linked her arm with his as they now walked through the town. luke just smiled at the question, pulling her over to a bench in front of some shops.
"seriously, luke?" she pouted as they sat down.
"yep!" he said with a smile still stuck on his face. luke knew she would hate this, so he only forced her to sit there and watch people with him for twenty minutes. she was nearly already asleep when he suddenly stood up again.
"oh thank the heavens!" leia was instantly wide awake, standing up herself. "where to now? can we at least get something to eat?"
luke chuckled softly, "yeah, okay. there's a bakery near here." they walked down the street, luke smiling as people passed him. his eyes then met with some random boy's. he looked about their age, and luke noticed something off.
the other boy was smirking at him, sneaking something into his pocket as he continued down the path towards luke. leia was completely oblivious to all that was happening since she was more focused on reaching the bakery.
as they were closer to each other, luke went to ask him something while he was passing. "did you just st-"
"nope."
luke's mouth hung slightly open as he turned his head back to watch the boy walk off. "did you say something?" he heard leia ask, but he didn't reply.
