"i have some friends coming over to do homework and stuff so father said you can do whatever you'd like." leia told him as he woke up the next morning. he groaned as he sat up, feeling her sitting at the end of his bed.

"what time is it?"

she snorted, "it's ten." he sighed and rubbed his eyes. "you should go into town, explore it more."

luke shrugged his shoulders, watching her walk out. he let out another groan and got out of bed.

-

"he lives!" the girl giggled as he came down the stairs, fixing his sweater. luke just gave her a look as he sat down at the table. leia had already finished her food, now flattening her dress as she got up from the table.

he assumed she was going to wait for her friends. "there's lots to eat, sir luke, but i can bring you anything you want." the maid spoke with a smile.

"it's just luke, and this is perfectly fine." he smiled back, picking a strawberry and eating it. she left him alone. luke ate some of the food as he shifted to sit comfortably in his chair.

he watched as leia walked through the hall after some waiting, followed by a few girls he had seen around the school. luke just sighed and got up from the table. he said goodbye to his father, well, he spoke to himself by the doorway but hoped his father heard, and left the castle.

when luke made it out of the gates, he smiled to himself. he was excited to walk alone through the town, no leia to stop him from going wherever he wanted.

he put his hands in his pockets as he walked, kicking at a rock on the street. he felt people around him watching, trying his best to ignore them.

"hey, kid!" luke's heart pounded in his chest, looking around to find where the voice came from. he spotted han coming for him, his heart slowing down to its normal pace.

"christ, han! i thought i was in trouble with someone." he pouted as the other boy threw an arm around him.

"nah," han chuckled. "i got you something." luke watched as he pulled a small notebook out of his back jean pocket. "it's for writing, or drawing, whatever you want."

luke took the notebook with a smile, cheeks heating up. "you didn't steal it, did you?" han just laughed, shaking his head. "thank you, then."

"you're very welcome, your worshipfulness." luke ignored the nickname. he walked with han, listening as the other boy told him stories about people he knew or saw around.

his arm never left from around luke, but luke couldn't ever complain. he enjoyed it, having missed out on the whole friend thing for years of his life.

"hold on a second." he suddenly heard from han, holding back a frown as he felt the arm leave his shoulder. he stood outside the shop alone, staring at the notebook still in his hands. he put it in his pocket.

han didn't return for a few minutes, but was running out of the shop when he finally came back. luke had a puzzled look on his face, taking a few steps back so they wouldn't collide. "what's wrong?"

he got no reply, just a hand in his hand pulling him down the street away from the shop. he felt butterflies in his stomach, running to keep up with the other boy. they didn't stop until they reached the castle gates.

"what happened?" luke asked, swallowing hard as he puffed. han swore to himself, running his hands through his hair and turning back to luke. his face softened when he saw how frightened luke was.

"nothing, it's alright." they both stood there catching their breath. han spoke again after a couple of minutes, "do you think i can come inside?"

luke nodded, "leia has friends over, so i think it's okay." han nodded back, following the boy inside the gates.
