leia happily ate her donut from the bakery as they sat at a table outside. luke bought himself one as well, but was too distracted by his thoughts to eat it.
"why aren't you eating?" she asked, which he wasn't surprised about. leia was a caring person.
he noticed people in the town started to realise who they were, but leia just kept happily eating. "i saw a boy our age steal something.." luke finally responded. she nearly choked on her food.
"what! why didn't you say anything, luke?!" he shrugged. he knew why though. she scoffed at him, finishing her donut and getting up. "we have to go find him."
before luke could protest she was pulling him up and back down the street where they had walked. "we're not gonna find him, leia, he's probably gone home!" she ignored him and kept going.
"what does he look like?"
"i don't know! i think he had brown hair? oh, and he was taller than me."
"that's all you remember?" leia laughed, still pulling him as she looked at everyone they passed. his cheeks were now light pink, luke thankful that she wasn't looking at him. he remembered more, way more, but he couldn't say that.
somehow, leia did manage to find the boy even with luke's description. he was leaning up against the side of a shop, twirling something in his fingers.
"hey!" leia yelled out to him, grabbing his attention. the boy smirked.
"hello, princess," he said, "and prince!" leia scoffed at this, but luke just blushed even more than before. he had no idea why he felt this way.
"luke told me he saw you stealing something, is this true?"
his eyes went from leia's to luke's, who was already looking at him. "maybe, so what?" he was smug, and luke couldn't help but smile at him. there was something about the boy that he liked.
the two of them argued for a while, luke letting them. he was distracted by the boy, just wanting to know who he was. he was snapped from his thoughts when he realised leia was talking to him. "huh?"
"i said let's go, he isn't worth it." luke frowned slightly, looking at the boy again. the boy gave him a small salute, grinning.
"name's han solo. hope to see you around here more, your highness. i guess you too, princess." luke smiled softly. leia shook her head.
-
"what an idiot." leia kept mumbling things to herself, mostly insults. they were now making their way back home, both of them forgetting all about how much trouble they could be in. both were thinking about han, and for very different reasons.
"he wasn't an idiot, leia." she looked over at luke, not expecting him to talk.
leia then smirked, "you like him." luke choked on his own spit.
"i most certainly do not!"
"it's quite obvious, luke. it isn't a bad thing." he scoffed, crossing his arms. he knew he wasn't straight, but had never said anything about it to anyone, not even leia. he didn't know why he couldn't just tell her.
she didn't say anything after that, leaving them in silence for the rest of the walk.
-
surprisingly, the two of them weren't in that much trouble when they got home. but they were both shocked to hear that they had to go to the normal school in town.
"what?!" was leia's reaction.
"i know, but we've lost our homeschool teacher and i think it would be better for you two to go to a real school." their father said.
"i'm fine with it." luke smiled up at his father as he finally ate his donut, glancing over to leia.
she sighed, "okay, yeah me too. it would be fun to make friends." she was smiling now.
