Natalie's P.O.V

I soon arrived back at the cottage, when I entered the front door I was surprised to hear the sound of my Aunt Rory. I hadn't seen Rory since my wedding, and I had missed her, so I rushed into the living room to greet her.

When I walked into the family room, I noticed that she was intently playing with the twins, teasing them with their toys and their pacifiers. I laughed at them, and greeted her with a smile occupying my face, "Hey, Rory." I stated.

"Oh, Natalie," She started, whilst getting up from the couch and giving me a tight hug, "Your mother told me your father is in rough shape." She added, a frown taking over her face.

"Yeah, it's heartbreaking." I stated sadly, with a frown of my own.

"It truly is..." Rory added trailing off.

After a few random conversations, we all decided to retire for the night. I took the boys to our designated room, and laid them down in an old crib the maid had brought upstairs earlier. After I was sure they had both drifted off to sleep, I proceeded to call Chris. The phone rung multiple times, and then went to Chris's voicemail message, "Hey, this is Chris sorry I missed your call, leave a message." He said in his voicemall message.

After the beep signalling for me to leave a message, I began to leave a message, "Sorry I didn't call earlier, but the boys and I made it safely to Matha's Vineyard, I love you, bye." I said.

I changed into a pair of pajamas, brushed my teeth, and then plugged my phone up to charge. I got into bed, and slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.

Around 3 in the morning, I was awoken by the whimper of one of the boys. I quickly jumped out of the bed to cater to his needs, when I had successfully changed his diaper, and fed him a bottle of formula, I laid him back down, and went back to bed.

The next morning, I quickly got up and took a shower before the boys had even woken up. I fixed my hair and makeup, and decided to try and call Chris again.

This time, after the third ring, he picked the phone up, "Hello?" Chris asked groggily.

"Hey, I tried to call you last night but you didn't answer, so I left a message." I stated.

"I know," He started, with a sigh, "I thought it was too late to call you when I finally got your message." He finished.

"You could have texted," I started but he cut me off mid sentence.

"I'm sorry." He interrupted

"It's okay, I was just going to say I was worried."

"Oh." He said shortly, almost like he was sorry for something else.

"I better go, the boys are waking up." I stated seriously.

"Okay, tell them daddy said hi, I love you." He replied.

"Sure thing, I love you too, bye." I said, and hung up the phone.

Later That Day

It was 5:30 now, and I was about to leave for dinner. I quickly found Rory and Grandma and asked them if they could watch the boys for an hour an a half, and they happily obliged, no questions asked.

By the time I left the cottage, it was already 5:50, so I had ten minutes to make it to Saltwater. I quickly walked down the street, and when I got to the restaurant, I had two minutes to spare. I waited outside the door, and right at 6:00, a black sedan pulled up to the curb, and Jim got out with a smile on his face.

"Hey," I greeted, returning his smile.

"Hey." He replied, and engulfed me in an unexpected hug.

I returned the hug, and he then led me inside the restaurant. The waitress led us to a table for two, and we sat down, ordering our drinks. When I ordered a sprite, Jim gave me a questioning glance, "Don't you want any wine?" He asked, a confused look upon his face, "You know it's great with seafood." He added.

"I know, but I don't drink." I answered, clearly lying.

"Oh, I see." He replied, with a laugh.

"What's so funny?" I asked, clearly confused by his laugh.

"I've never met a girl that doesn't drink, " He started, "How old are you anyway?" He then asked with a questioning look upon his face.

"I'm 28." I replied with a laugh.

"Oh, you're older than I thought you were." He said a smile on his face.

"How old did you think I was?" I asked with a soft laugh.

"24." He answered shortly.

"Wow, I wish!" I said this time laughing loudly, "Getting old sucks." I then added.

"Tell me about it." He stated, this time with a laugh of his own.

The rest of dinner went great, and I had a really good time. When we were about to leave the restaurant, Jim offered to drive me back to the cottage, but I politely declined, because I didn't want Rory or Grandma to ask any questions. After quickly exchanging numbers, we went our separate ways.

By the time I got home it was 7:15, and I was exhausted. I collected the boys, quickly feeding them, and changing their soiled diapers. Once I was finished, I changed into pajamas and got into bed, turning on the T.V, I skimmed through the channels, until I stopped on the celebrity news show, Popsugar.

I watched intently for a few minutes, and then right before my eyes popped up a picture of Chris with Sandra Bullock hugged up to him. Then I remembered the way he had apologized on the phone this morning, and I knew that was why he had interrupted me to tell me he was sorry.

I quickly picked up my phone, and dialed his number. After multiple rings it went to his voicemail, which wasn't surprising at all now, when the beep signaled, I left him a nice message, "I know who you're with, and I know why you're not answering. So, I would like you to know that the boys and I will being flying home tomorrow, but we are going to stay with my parents until you decide what it is you want, your family, or your childhood crush." I stated a serious and stern tone to my voice.

I was now officially heartbroken......
