"Ruel..." i said to him
"Soo is that yes?" he said, his smile fading
"Ruel, your career is taking off, your only going up from here, you cant have me holding you back. Ruel believe me when i say that i like you, cause i really really fucking do, but i cant do this to you." i said as tears escaped my eyes
"No y/n, you like me, i like you, why cant we try this, please" he said, his eyes getting glassy
"Ruel, its going to ruin us, ruin your career" i replied to him
"I think you should go" i said as i walked into my bathroom
"Wow" ruel said as he left the room
Ruel's POV
I run downstairs past Chase as i open the door and storm off home
How could she do this?
She was trying to protect you ruel
But i don't need protecting, i can fight on my own
She doesn't want you to get in trouble from Nate
I don't care what he thinks, she is the first girl who i have ever ever liked, i wont let my career get in the way of us
"Hey ruel, what happened-" Coco said as i ran upstairs
"Woah what happened" sylvie said as she stopped me just before my room
"Let me through" i said to her through gritted teeth, Coco came upstairs to see what the problem was
"What happened ruel?" coco asked again as i walked into my room, my sisters following me
"Does this have something to do with y/n?" Coco asked
I stayed quiet
"What did you do?" Sylvie asked
"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING" i said as i cried into my pillow
"Well obviously something happened so tell us" Coco said
"I asked her out" i said in a small voice
"Really! You did! Oh i'm guessing she said no" Coco said sadly
"She told me that she liked me" I said to her
"That's great" Sylvie said
"Then I asked her to be my girlfriend" I said
"And!?!?" Coco and Sylvie said at the same time
"She said that she couldn't because of my career, cause of my fucking career, she said she didnt want to hold me back" i replied, crying more and more into my pillow
"She is too pure for this world" Coco said
"She doesn't want to hurt you ruel, she is protecting you" Sylvie assured me
"I don't need protecting! I should be the one protecting her" i said as i turned to face my sister
Y/N's POV
I cried that night
I cried so hard, Chase tried to help me, but it was no use, i needed him and i let him slip away
Why did i say no?
Why would i do that?
I struggled to sleep that night, i tried

I somehow got myself out of bed
My eyes were bloodshot and my hair was an absolute mess
I chucked on my school uniform and put some concealer under my eyes to cover the darkness
I brushed out my hair and put it into a low ponytail, then i found chase downstairs and we walked to school
Chase was by my side the whole walk, holding me closely, he was probably scared that I would jump in front of a car, and I probably would to be honest. I felt brain dead.
I got to school and plastered a fake smile on my face
"Heyyooo boooo!" Alannah said as she gave me and Chase a hug
"Hey Alannah" i said as i hugged her back laughing
"Well i have some big news" she said to me, as Chase went off to find his other friends
"Oh my god, spill" i said to her as we walked to find Grace
"Ruel asked me out and i said yes" she said happily
What the actual fuck
"I'm so happy for you" i said, my fake smile fading
"I know!" she said as we found Grace
Alannah went off in the other direction to her first class, Grace and I walked in the same direction
"Are you okay?" Grace asked
"Yeah, um, of course, why wouldn't I be?" i asked Grace
"Because Ruel is going on a date with Alannah and not you" She responded
"Well, he asked me to be his girlfriend, but i turned him down" i said to her, scared of her reaction
"What?! why would you do that?" She said shocked
"Because, i had to" i said to her
"No you didn't! I thought you liked him" she said confused
"I do like him, alot, but i cant ruin his career" i said to her
"Thats his problem, not yours" she said as she walked into class and as i walked into mine
There he was, in the back, next to the spot where i have to sit
Great
I plopped my books down next to him, not daring to make eye contact
"Open up to Chapter 10" the teacher directed the class
I had to say something
"So, i heard your taking alannah out" i said to him, not looking at him still
"Yep" he said dryly
"Im happy for you" i said to him
"No your not" he mumbled
"I am ruel" i said back
"Whatever" he said
I get why he was annoyed at me, he hd every right to be annoyed at me, but why did it have to hurt so much? Why did his words hurt me?
