Before this day ends, nag yaya si Eliezer na i-celebrate ang pagka-panalo nila ni Coen. A double celebration, he said. Though, Coen didn't agree at first because he was already tired after a long day, pero napilit din siya ni Eliezer, they invited me and Coleen to come along.
Kahit hindi pa kumakalma ang sistema ko sa nangyari kanina. I didn't even know what happened next, I was stunned and I spaced out. Natauhan lang ako nang tinawag na ako nila Coleen dahil tapos na ang closing ceremony.
"Sa'n ba tayo pupunta?" halata sa boses ni Coen na napipilitan lang siya sa trip ni Eliezer. Even I wants him to rest, pero hindi talaga mapigilan si Eli.
"Samgyup. Libre ko na nga, ayaw pa?" sagot niya.
Kasama din namin si Natalia na kanina pa tahimik at nakatutok sa phone niya. Nilapitan ko siya.
"Sino 'yan?" tanong ko at pabirong sumilip sa phone niya na agad niya namang inilayo.
"Chismosa ka girl? Wala! Nag papaalam ako kay Nikko," medyo humina ang boses niya sa bandang huli. Napasulyap ako kay Eliezer at hindi niya naman 'yon narinig dahil nauuna siyang mag lakad kausap si Coen.
"Naks naman sa boyfriend, guitarer!" pag bibiro ni Coleen.
"Uy! Shh!" pag saway sa amin ni Natalia.
We finally reached the restaurant after a 20-minute walk. Pagabi na kaya binilisan nalang namin ang pag order. Kaunting chit-chat hanggang sa ayan nanaman si Eliezer sa mga kagaguhan niya.
"Since we have our Mr. Campus right here—"
"Don't do anything stupid or I'll grill you here," Coen cut him off.
"KJ! Just give us a little speech!"
Coen gave up and sighed. Tumahimik naman kami at nag hintay sa sasabihin niya. Tumingin siya ng masama kay Eliezer, at napa-sulyap sa akin bago nag salita. Perhaps, it was just my imagination?
"I deserve this title—"
Bago pa matapos ang sasabihin niya ay umeksena kaagad si Eli.
"Ooookay let's wrap this conversation up and pretend it never happened," he said in monotone.
We continued to talk about random things, like:
"You didn't invite Via," sabi ni Natalia. Nagka-tinginan kaming tatlo nila Eli at Coleen.
"I did," sabi ni Coen "Tumanggi." pag papatuloy niya.
It's kind of a relief that she declined, ang awkward siguro kung nandito siya ngayon.
Hanggang sa nag ka-yayaan na kaming umuwi dahil gumagabi na din. I realized, parehas kami ng lalakarin ni Coen. Coleen and Eliezer goes the other way, at susunduin naman ni Nikko si Natalia. Then, it'll be the two of us alone.
"Dito na kami," pag papaalam ni Coleen.
"Ingatan ka dyan, Stacey.."
"Aha?" my confused laugh right here.
We exchange good-byes and it was me and Coen left alone. We were walking peacefully then Coen broke the silence.
"It's tiring to deal with Eliezer. Na-drain ako." sabi niya at nag buntong-hininga. Tumawa ako.
"Right. Ang energetic niya," sabi ko at nabalot nanaman kami ng katahimikan.
He sighed again. I lost count for how many times he sighed this day.
"But I had fun,"
Before I knew it, we were already near the terminal. Time flies fast when I'm with him.
"Ako din," sagot ko. This whole walk and conversation was awkward.
"I wish this could happen again." mahina kong sabi, just enough for him to hear.
"Then we'll make it happen again." sabi niya. Tumigil kami sa pag lalakad dahil nakarating na kami. Hinarap niya ako. I was speechless at the moment and don't know how to act.
"Good night." he said and bid a goodbye after patting my head.
"Good.... night..." a delayed answer from yours truly.
I'll definitely make it happen again.
