(Before you read this, just know that I am still working on May's Letter, I am just revising and making sure it's juicy enough.)
{Everything you're going to read in this paragraph is true.....sleep paralysis works differently for everyone so please throw your judgement in the trash, if you haven't already.} So a lot of you enjoyed my very first short story about sleep paralysis. I feel like that's what made me famous :).... But for the first time, I got sleep paralysis and it's just as terrifying as they claim. I knew I had to remain calm, though, because it's not real, and it will pass... and every time I would wake back up, it kept happening. They say not to open your eyes because if you think too hard, your brain will trick you into seeing things that you don't want to, or things that are your version of truly terrifying. After doing some research, I saw some of the faces that some people saw throughout their experience with sleep paralysis. I made a mistake and half opened my eyes, thinking it would be okay, and I ended up seeing what could have been a face smiling back at me. (Not sure what it was exactly because my brain is technically asleep, but I plan on doing an illustration later.) That's when I got a little nervous and tried to close my eyes again. My breathing had become heavier at that point as I tried to calm down. I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be, and I know that for some people it is a lot worse, especially children, like little Jake. Now that I actually have some perspective on sleep paralysis, you could expect a part two!!! :))))
If you have any questions, I will definitely answer, because maybe one of you are going through the same things or something way more terrifying, and it would overall be good for me to know. So communicate! I am very curious, so maybe next time I'll have the courage to open my eyes and see what my brain is capable of.
