"Miss Lyrae?"
Vera looked over to the door, smiling when she found Taehyung leaning against the doorway with his hands in his pockets and his eyes focused on her. She placed the photo that she had been admiring back down on his desk, tilting it so that it was standing exactly how it had been before she had picked it up, and then she walked over to the young man. "Please just call me Vera," She said.
Taehyung stared at her for a moment in silence before nodding his head. "Very well," He replied. "How are you feeling?"
A look of mild surprise appeared on Vera's face at the question, as though she hadn't expected to hear such a question from him. "I am well, thank you," She answered. "And you? Officer Wang mentioned that you are having problems at your work recently."
"It isn't anything I can't handle," Taehyung responded, and then fell silent. He stared at the young woman before him as she reciprocated his stare, her deep blue eyes sparkling and her lips slowly curving into a smile. Snapping himself out of his daze, Taehyung cleared his throat and said, "So you, uh, really believe that you are a star?"
Giving him a weird look, Vera responded, "Of course I believe it. It is the truth."
Taehyung stared at her a little longer, allowing silence to fill the space between them as he thought about her answer.
Looks like Officer Wang was right about her. She's out of her mind if she believes such a weird story, He thought.
How do you know she isn't telling the truth?
Taehyung closed his eyes and exhaled through his nose. I'm almost convinced that you are insane, V, He answered to the voice in his head. Stars are massive burning rocks floating around in outer space. They're not pretty women dressed in white.
You don't know that. Space is a thing that humans still know very little about, so her story could well be the truth yet to be discovered. Also, did I just hear you say 'pretty'? I knew it—you DO think she's attractive!
"Shut up," Taehyung mumbled to himself, accidentally saying the words he was directing at the other him out loud.
Vera frowned up at him. "Pardon?"
"Ah," Taehyung opened his eyes and looked down at the white-haired woman who had snapped him out of his inner conversation. "That wasn't to you—I was just—I was talking to—" He pointed up to his head as he spoke, but then sighed and shook his head, playing off his hand gesture by running his fingers through his hair as he carried on, "Forget it. Oh—that's right—you mentioned before that you don't have anywhere to go, if I remember correctly?"
Vera blinked at him for a moment, confused by his behaviour, but she quickly brushed it off and answered, "Yes, that is correct. I am new to Earth and therefore I do not have a ... home, I believe is the correct word?"
Nodding in confirmation, Taehyung said, "Yes, that's right." He paused, thinking something over, and then carried on, "Well, seeing as that is the case, I would like to offer you to stay here."
"Here?" Vera repeated after him, her eyes lighting up with excitement and happiness. "You mean that I may stay with you?"
Taehyung inclined his head as a form of 'yes', and Vera's immediate response was to grin and fling her arms out, obviously getting ready to pull the dark-haired male into a hug. Before she could, however, Taehyung raised his hand and quickly placed his index finger on her forehead which prevented Vera from moving any closer to him. She slowly lowered her arms as she peered up at Taehyung curiously, wondering why he had stopped her.
