"Where are you going?"
Taehyung froze with his feet dangling off of the edge of his bed and one hand raised in the air holding the blanket away from his body. His eyes slowly moved up to meet a pair of deep sea blue orbs watching him intensely from the doorway. "I, uh," He cleared his throat, "I wanted a glass of water—"
"Lay back down, put the covers over yourself, and rest," Vera ordered. "I will bring you water."
Taehyung shook his head. "I am fully capable of—"
"Tae," Vera cut him off before he could finish, giving him a pointed look as she repeated, "I will bring you water."
"But ... "
Vera raised her eyebrows and jutted her bottom jaw out, standing on her tip toes and putting her hands on her hips. She attempted to replicate an intimidating pose that she had seen on the TV before the mess with Taehyung happened, but instead of looking intimidating she just ended up looking cute. She reminded Taehyung of a child trying to argue with their parents that they weren't a baby anymore.
Trying his best not to laugh, Taehyung asked, "What are you doing?"
Vera strutted over to him, keeping her hands firmly on her hips as she did so. She stopped in front of Taehyung and looked down at him for a moment before grabbing his shoulders and pushing him back gently but firmly until he was lying on the bed again. She snatched the blanket out of his hand and pulled it over his body, tucking him in and then straightening up again.
"Stay here," She instructed, "And do not move. Rest, Tae. I will bring you water."
And with that, she hurried away from him and disappeared through the open door of his bedroom, her footsteps gradually getting quieter as she made her way down the stairs and into the kitchen in search for some water.
Taehyung shook his head lightly and sighed, deciding not to protest any more. He settled into a more comfortable position and averted his gaze to the ceiling as he thought.
Vera had woken up not too long ago, but enough time had passed since then for Taehyung to learn that when she put her mind to something, it was absolutely impossible to stop her from doing it.
Samuel had left for work soon after she was up, leaving his elder brother in what he called "Miss Vera's capable hands" to which Taehyung had immediately replied by begging him to stay. Samuel, being the brat he is, stuck his tongue out at his elder brother and ran off before Taehyung could catch him.
Upon Samuel's departure, Vera had begun to bombard Taehyung with questions about his wellbeing, fussing over him and doing anything she could to make sure that he didn't move around and continued to rest in his bed. She also drowned him in numerous apologies which Taehyung struggled to find a reason for.
Why does she think that it's her fault? Taehyung wondered as he lay there, staring up at his bedroom ceiling. It doesn't make any sense ... V's the one that caused this mess, and he has absolutely no link to Vera ... right? He can't have ... so then why did she apologise? Why is she so convinced that it's her fault? Why is she making such an effort to take care of me now? He ran a hand through his hair and let out a frustrated sigh. What exactly is going on?
"I have brought the water!" Vera announced as she rushed over to Taehyung's side, pulling him out of his thoughts as she presented him with a mug of water.
Taehyung sat up and took the mug from Vera's outstretched hands, gulping the water down eagerly and quenching his thirst. He hummed in satisfaction once he had finished and gave the mug back to Vera who happily took it from him. "Thank you."
