Chapter 9 - Human Stardust Lens

Before taking Vera to a guest room, Taehyung decided to give her a quick tour of his villa. He speed-walked through the villa, pointing at various doors and stating what was behind them before announcing whether or not Vera could go in and what she could or couldn't touch inside of the rooms that she was allowed to go in. Vera didn't seem to mind his slightly rude and over-bearing nature – she simply followed Taehyung closely and listened to his instructions carefully, nodding whenever Taehyung asked her whether she was paying attention.

The tour stopped on the top floor of the villa which was home to only three rooms. Taehyung pointed to the furthest door from the staircase as he said, "That room belongs to my brother, Sam. Unless he gives you permission or invites you inside himself, don't go in there. If you are to go inside, don't touch any of his things without his permission." He then turned to gesture to the only door on the other side of the corridor and said, "That is my room. The same rules apply. Only enter if I give you permission, or if I invite you in. Hmm ... if there is an emergency of some sort, then you have permission to go in. Understood?"

Vera nodded quickly. "Yes, I understand."

"Good," Taehyung replied. He then turned to the door closest to the staircase by which they stood and opened it, stepping into the room with Vera following him. "This is the guest room in which you will stay," He announced, gesturing around the room."

The room was spacious and very black and white – the only spot of colour was the Venus Flytrap which stood in the corner of the room and was slowly but surely inching its head towards the curtains blowing in the wind.

"Hey—Sprout!" Taehyung snapped at the plant as he stalked over to it and moved the curtains out of its reach. "Stop trying to eat the curtains, you stupid piece of cellulose—those curtains are expensive!"

The plant shrunk away from Taehyung and turned its head away, closing up and then staying still. A smile appeared on Vera's face as she admired the plant, her gaze curious and excited. She walked further into the room, cautiously approaching Taehyung and his plant.

Glancing up at her, Taehyung cleared his throat and said, "This is—uh—this is Sprout."

"Sprout?" Vera echoed, coming over to crouch down a small distance away from the plant. She titled her head to the side and smiled at its head. "Hello, Sprout," She said brightly.

Slowly, the plant turned its head towards Vera. It was still for a moment, as though considering her, and then it opened up its head and wiggled its stalk around as if performing some sort of strange dance. Vera giggled at its actions and stood up, wiggling around and trying to reciprocate the dance it was showing her.

Taehyung watched the encounter awkwardly, unsure of whether to laugh and join in or to be concerned about what he was witnessing. Letting out a subtle laugh and attracting Vera's attention, he nodded towards Sprout and said, "Looks like he likes you."

As she reciprocated the smile, Vera responded, "I am glad to hear it." She turned back to Sprout and her smile widened as she added, "I like you too, Sprout!"

Taehyung snorted but tried to mask it with a cough. "A friend of mine gifted me him years ago so be careful not to hurt him or poison him with something. Oh—and look out for his temper—he can be quite rude when he's hungry. Don't let him eat the curtains either, they're expensive and it looks like he's quite interested in them. Oh, and if he bites you, just pat his head and he should let go. If he keeps holding on, call me and I'll come help."

"I understand," Vera replied with a nod. She tore her gaze away from the plant to look around the room again, her gaze lingering on a few household appliances for a few seconds before moving on.
