𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐀 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 (𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖)

Chapter Three: Hush My Little Hummingbird

"Haha, Lexi wait up your too fast for me!" I shouted to the running 7 year old brunette running infront of me, Lexa stops and turns to me just as I crash into her, we laugh as we stumble to the ground.

"I told ya I was faster" Lexa bragged, I laugh loudly and roll my electric blue eyes, rolling onto my back beside her and looking up to the colour changing sky as the sun sets.

"Yes Lex, we know your faster, not get over it!" I chuckle swatting her arm softly, Lexa pokes her tongue out as me before grabbing my small hand in hers as we watch the sky change colours.

I feel a pang of sadness hit me, it's nearly time for me to go home and I don't want to, I hate the Peterson's and I want to stay with Lexa but I know I've stayed at Lexa's house too much this week already so I have no choice but to go back.

As if reading my thoughts Lexa gives my hand a squeeze drawing my attention to her, she was watching me carefully with her piercing green eyes and soft smile, I smile back.

"It's ok Clarke, we'll see each other tomorrow at school" she reassures me, I nod and hold her hand tightly, not wanting to let go, not just yet.

I frown at my best friend, "Hey Lexi?" I draw her attention, she hums at me softly, "We'll always be best friends right?" I ask worriedly, anxiety swimming around in my stomach as a lump gets caught in my throat, Lexa smiles softly at me again before pulling me closer, arm around my shoulder as I tuck my head in the crook of her neck.

"Of course Clarke, your my bestest friend ever!" Lexa exclaims as she holds me tightly.

"And we'll always be together right?" I ask quietly after a moment, I feel her pull me impossibly closer, we're not stupid, we may be young but we're far from nieve, Indra had explained to us that at any moment I could move again and no one wanted it but we had no power over it, despite this fact Lexa reassures me anyway, like she always has.

"Yes Hummingbird, we'll always be together. No matter what" she promises, Hummingbird is her nickname for me because I always hum randomly and love being up high like a bird.

I sit up on my elbow so I'm leaning over her, "Ya' promise Lex?" I ask with tears forming in my eyes, the thought of loosing Lexa broke me more then I'd like to admit, so much so that a tear rolls down my cheek unwillingly, Lexa wipes it away carefully.

"Hush my Little Hummingbird, it's going to be ok" Lexa reassures me and she smiles at me reassuringly as she tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear, "I promise Clarke" she smiles at me, I grin back and kiss her cheek before resting my head in the crook of her neck once again, mumbling as I do so.

"I love you Lexa"

I feel her kiss my forehead like she always does, "I love you too Clarke" she tells me as her hold tightens around me.

"Clarke?" Lexa whispers, I hum, Lexa's quiet for a moment before gathering up the courage to ask, "Can you sing for me?"

I smile with my eyes closed and start to sing as we sit there in the grass underneath the sunset in each other's arm singing, chatting and laughing until our stomachs hurt and our cheeks burn.

Present

"Clarke, Jasper to Clarke" Jasper draws my mind back to the present, he's waving his hand infront of me trying to gain my attention, retreating it when he notices I'm focused again.

"Hey, we lost you for a minute there" Octavia chuckles, "You ok blondie?" She asks, I nod and turn my attention to the front of the class still in shock about the new information.

I'd only told Raven about my story and Lexa, Octavia had a pretty good guess of what's happened at the foster homes but I've never confirmed nor denied it.

Lexa Woods.

Lexa Woods, my best friend in the entire fucking world was at my university, I could have seen her a year ago had I not left for Australia, I could have hugged her again, talked to her again, laughed with her again and see her again as well as Anya and Lincoln and their parents, I'd missed them so much in the past 12 years....

But what if she doesn't remember me? What if she knew I was here but just didn't care? Does she even want to be my friend again?

The bell goes and I say goodbye Octavia and Jasper and make my way to Geography, not even looking where I was going or who's in the class as I sit down and doubts run through, a lot has happened in the past 12 years without Lexa and the Woods clan, what is she didn't want me in her life again?

I huff as the bell goes, I decide I will look for her and figure it out from there.

"Clarke, you sitting with us today right, everyone misses you?" Jasper asks when he pops out of no where besides my locker, I mentally face palm, of course my friends would want to see me after being away for a year, I nod reluctantly, I'd been without Lexa for 12 years, what's a few more hours?

"PRINCESS!" Murphy greets me as I walk to the table, his outburst gets the attention of the others around the table who immediately run over to me, crushing me in a group hug.

We just stand there for a moment enjoying the moment before seperate.

"It's good to have you back Princess" Bellamy smiles at me as he takes his seat across from me, Murphy nods with him from his spot at the end of the table.

"Yea, you abandoned us for a year. It's been so quiet around here, peaceful, now your here to ruin it" Murphy jokes, he's a good man, he was like me growing up, always mixed with the wrong crowds but he's matured and has become a brother to me.

"Yep, you should have seen what she said to our teacher this morning" Octavia boasts and tells them all the story from this morning.

Raven grabs my hand from where she is next to me under the table, "How was the hospital visit?" She whispers having been the only one I told about the hospital nurses.

"It was good, I saw a few of the nurses who took care of me and made me promise to go and see them again soon" I reply evenly to the girl.

Raven smiles at me happily although she can't seem to meet my eyes, she nods and gives my hand one last squeeze before letting go and going back to eat her lunch, Raven's always been a sister to me, the closest person I've let in my life but she'll never be as close as Lexa was and hopefully will be.

"Ok so guys, I have something to tell you" Raven draws the groups attention, "I have a girlfriend now" she says excitedly, the group let out a breath, it's about fucking time Raven and this mystery girl got together.

"So what's her name?" Monty asks.

Raven takes a deep breath, eyes flicking over to me before looking away again, she swallows hard before finally answering.

My blood runs cold and my whole body freezes, a lump gets stuck in my throat as my stomach twists and turns, I feel sick when the words leave her mouth.

"Lexa, her name's Lexa Woods"
