𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐀 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 (𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖)

Chapter Ten: This Is Family

"Lex!" I call out in a hushed whisper, it was dark in the Woods household, the clock on the kitchen wall showing it was 4 in the morning, I had come here straight after a fairly harsh beating, Indra and Gustus had given me a key so in an emergency i could come here and this was one of those times, i had a long vertical cut on my arm and it was bleeding heavily, i couldn't stop it by myself so i came here.

Sobs rack my small 7 year old body as I make my way to the stairs, but just before I get to them my knee pops out sending me to the floor, i cry out as my arm lands on the floor putting pressure on my cut and my knee cap refuses to go back into place, my eyes screwed shut in pain as tears paint my cheeks.

"LEXA!!" I cry out desperately, not a second later I can hear doors slamming open and footfalls on the stairs, I'm lifted into strong arms and carried somewhere before everything goes dark.

My eyes flutter at the brightness of the room before I can finally keep them open, taking in my surroundings I realise I'm in a hospital, a place I'm all too familiar with, I try to move my good arm but I can't feel it, panicking I look to my left and there's Lexa sleeping beside me, I carefully remove my arm from beneath her and wrap it around her as she cuddles closer.

"It's good to see your awake Hummingbird" I hear a gruff voice beside me, Gustus, Indra and Anya where in chairs beside my bed.

"How did i get here" i ask, my voice raw, Anya gets up and climbs on the bed careful of Lexa as she tips a cup of cold water in my mouth before kissing me in the forehead and getting down, returning to her seat beside Gustus.

"We bought you here, you needed stitches and  have your knee cap put back into place" Indra tells me as she wipes hair from my face, I nod but frown a second later.

"Where's Linc?" I ask confused as I look around for him.

"He's with Nyko getting some food" Indra tells me, i nod with a sigh as i relax back into the bed.

We all talk for a while before Lexa shifts and sits up, upon seeing me up she smiles wide with tears in her green eyes.

"CLARKE!" She squeals as she pulls me carefully in for a hug, "I was so scared..." She whispers into my shoulder, I told her tightly to me, not willing to let go yet.

"I'm right here, I'm not goin' anywhere Lex" i whisper back as I feel her tears mark my neck, it's times like these that remind me Lexa's only human like me, she's always the strong one, the one to pick me up and hold me as I cried but there are times like these where I'm the strong one and holds Lexa as she cries into my shoulder and I will always let her have these moments when she needs it.

Present

I wake in a bed cuddled up with someone, their body heat warming me as I snuggle closer, a hand runs up and down the length of my spine and it takes me a few moments to realise where I am and what's happened, when I do I smile as I lean up on my elbow, looking down at the greenest eyes on earth.

"Your here?" I mumble as I run the sleep from my eyes, Lexa watches me intensely as I do, her green eyes completely focused on me, a moment later she seems to shake from her trance and smiles up at me.

"Course, I wasn't going to leave you alone Clarke" she replies softly as she pushes a strand of loose hair behind my ear, her thumb brushing my jaw line as her hand retreats, my breath is caught in my throat and my heart hammers in my ears like war drums, I just stare at her for a moment in wonder, how the hell had I ever lived without her all these years?

That's right, I haven't.

Lexa smiles sweetly at me, her eyes never leaving mine and before I can realise what I'm doing I'm leaning closer, our breaths mixing together as my heart pounds, our noses touching as i place my hand softly on her neck, tilting my head and closing my eyes...
