You shuffled your feet across the sidewalk lazily, looking towards the sky. It seems like it's going to rain pretty soon..., you think. Tilting your head down to look in front of you again, you realized just how far you were from home. You sighed, shuffling your food bag to your left hand. I should pick up the pace.

Walking a bit faster, you finally felt your sandaled feet touch the soft sand on the beach. You moved to Beach City a few months after you graduated with a Bachelor's in English Literature. You wanted a change in pace, and living in the big city with your mom wasn't your speed anymore. Of course, you still visit her from time to time, but you loved the smell of the ocean and the peace of your dad's hometown. He died a few weeks after your college graduation and left everything in his name to you: his two-bedroomed house on the beach and a cozy bookstore at the edge of the boardwalk where you now worked. It was the perfect life for you.

Rain began to fall from the sky slowly, but you weren't at all fazed because you were only a few feet away from your front door. Digging in your purse that rested comfortably on your right shoulder, you searched for your keys. Once they were in your hand, you carefully put the key in the door and turned it until you heard a soft click. You pushed open the door, closing it softly behind you as the rain began to pick up.

The inside of your home wasn't anything too grand. Anyone who walked in through the front door would see the whole house in front of them. The living area would be to their right and the kitchen to their left. In front of them would be the stairs with a half bathroom stuck under them. You shuffled to the kitchen, placing your keys and food bag on the island. Allowing your purse to slide off your shoulder, you turned slightly, tossing it onto the hook by the door behind you. You hissed out a quiet 'yes,' pumping your fist in celebration. Giggling to yourself, you began to walk down the hallway and up the stairs to your room.

You sighed contently, sipping your (f/h/d). You had taken a hot shower and changed into a(n) (f/c) sweater, sitting on your bean bag by your window. You watched the rain quietly, noticing how the strong wind blew across the ocean, creating hectic waves that crashed against the shore, sending particles of sand flying into the air. Particles of sand but...also something else. Something shiny that now lay on the beach, almost being swallowed up by the waves again. It had an unearthly glow to it that caught your eye. You couldn't help but stare at it. And you, a collector of things that washed up on the beach, wanted a closer look at the shiny object.

Your dad had been a collector as well. There were plenty of little trinkets and shells scattered around the house, even some jewelry he had created with them. You had kept all of it, admiring the creative and curious side you and your father both shared. The rain began to pour down harder, thunder rumbling along with it. I hope the rain doesn't wash it away..., you think, wishing you could go outside at that moment and claim the item as yours. You sipped on your (f/h/d) again, sighing as you glanced at the object once more. Oh well...hopefully, it's there in the morning. You then rose from your place by the window, going to the kitchen to wash your mug. You put your food bag in the refrigerator, no longer having an appetite. You then decided to retire to bed for the night, planning to wake up the next day and search the beach for your prize.

Jasper's POV

*reverse time skip brought to you by Lapis Lazuli*

I struggled out of the water, taking a deep breath I did not need. I had finally gotten out of Lapis' grip. She's strong...I will give her that. My body was weak. I needed to rest, but I refused until I was far away from the ocean. I did not want to be anywhere near it after being trapped under it for so long. If I had known she would turn on me like that...I would have never asked her to fuse with me.

I clawed at the sand, trying to get a grip as I dragged my body onto the beach. I panted, lifting my head slowly to see a figure in the distance. (S/c-t) skin and (h/l) (h/c) hair were all I could make out. Must be a human...

I attempted to call out to them, but my voice was hoarse. I could barely even make a squeak! Pathetic..., I think, gritting my teeth. To think that I, Jasper, would have to ask a puny human for help!... I chuckled to myself, watching as they walked into what was most likely their house. My eyelids began to feel heavy, but I wasn't strong enough to keep fighting for them to stay open. Heh...if I'm this weak, then Lapis must be—, my thought was cut off as I poofed and my body retreated inside my gem to recuperate.
