You groaned loudly, rolling over to the other side of your bed. You stretched out your arm, feeling for your phone that was blasting an ear-splitting noise. Once you got the device in your hand, you brought it to your face, pressing the small grey button labeled 'stop'. Dropping it beside you, you inhaled sharply, running a hand through your tangled (h/c) hair. Exhaling slowly, you cringed at the smell of your morning breath. Jesus, what did I eat last night? You slowly scooted to the edge of the bed, extending your legs until your toes touched the carpeted floor. Before getting up, you checked your phone for the time. 7:03 AM. You sighed again, standing up and making your way to the bathroom in your room adjacent to your bed. Time to start the day...

*tiny time skip brought to you by toothpaste*

Once you showered, brushed your teeth, and wrestled with your hair, you walked out of the foggy bathroom towards your closet. "Let's see...what to wear today," you mumbled, tapping your chin softly. You decided to wear grey, skinny jeans with a loose-fitting (f/c) blouse. After getting dressed, you looked at yourself in the mirror, turning slightly to get a full view. "Kinda basic, but cute." You then walked over to your dresser, pulled a pair of tights and a sports bra out, and stuffed them into your gym bag. You stuck your feet in your shoes, grabbed your phone, then quickly made your way down the stairs. You only had a little time to eat, so you decided on something simple: a bagel. After the fluffy donut-shaped bread popped out of the toaster, you slathered it with cream cheese and stuck it in your mouth. You grabbed your keys from the kitchen island along with your gym bag and phone. You then snatched your purse off the hook by the door. Closing and locking the door behind you, you glanced across the beach to see if the shiny object from last night would catch your eye again. To your dismay, you saw nothing, and you slightly pouted before checking your phone. 7:37 AM. "Shit, I'm late!" You began to run across the beach awkwardly, picking up speed once your feet touched the wood of the boardwalk. You skidded to a halt once you were in front of the entrance of Funland Arcade. Mr. Smiley was leaning up against the wall, looking at you knowingly.

"You're late, (y/n)." You gave him a shy smile, shifting your feet.

"Uh...yeah. I know, Mr. Smiley. I lost track of time." He nodded, chuckling before unfolding his arms and making his way to the back of the arcade.

"Come on, sweetcheeks. We've got work to do." You quickly followed behind him. "We won't be doing anything too drastic today, since I know you have to be at the bookstore soon," Mr. Smiley stated, glancing over his shoulder at you while pushing the door in front of him open.

"Yes, sir," you replied, setting your purse down on the bench against the wall in the training room. Besides being an arcade and amusement park owner, and an ex-R&B singer/actor, Mr. Smiley trained in boxing in his younger years. He picked up a lot of great techniques and information from his former trainers, and now he was your trainer. Every Sunday and Friday, you would train with him, and each time you got better and better. The bookstore was closed on Sundays, and that's when he would coach you arduously, but on Fridays, he went easy on you since you had to go to work right after.
