Mini A/N: Hey guys...I'm a little embarrassed to even talk to you guys because of how late this chapter was published. It's on the longer side (I felt you deserved that), and I planned to have it posted Thanksgiving Day, but things didn't work out that way. Any-who! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! Stay blessed, stay beautiful, stay safe and I love you — I mean it!

It was wedged between your arms and legs, giving you the feeling of cuddling someone. Pathetic, you thought, sighing softly as you closed your eyes again for a brief moment. After a while, you finally decided to get out of bed completely, sliding your feet into the slippers by your bedside. You stretched again, reaching high up towards the ceiling. You stood in place for a few more minutes trying to shake your dizziness off. I might have stretched too hard... You held your head briefly, clearing your throat as you walked towards the bathroom. You splashed water on your face, turning to your left slightly to reach for your morning face cleanser. You pushed down on the pump gently, only needing enough to cover your fingertips. You rubbed your hands together before placing them on your face, working the scrub into your skin. You hummed at the vibrant smell of oranges that came in contact with your nostrils, immediately beginning to wake you up. "Works every time...", you said softly to yourself, relishing in the smell of your face cleanser for a while longer before rinsing it off. You patted your cheeks, forehead, and chin dry with a towel, leaving the bathroom and then your room. You headed into the kitchen for a cup of water, noting that your mom was sitting comfortably on the couch watching the morning news. "Morning, Mom", you mumbled into your cup, your voice echoing.
"Good morning, sweetheart. How did you sleep", she asked, never taking her eyes off the screen.
"Like a baby", you answered, placing your glass on the countertop. Your mom chuckled, adjusting the blanket around her form. "It's getting pretty cold outside, isn't it?"
"Yeah. But thankfully we're going somewhere a little warmer today. Or maybe tomorrow."
"What do you mean", you asked, raising an eyebrow as you leaned against the kitchen island.
"We're going back home for Thanksgiving", she said simply, humming.
"What?!" Your mom broke into a hearty laugh, holding her stomach. "Wait, are you serious", you asked nervously, walking over to her.
"Yes, of course. Don't you want to see the rest of your family? And eat your aunt's great cooking?" You groaned, sliding down the couch until you were on the floor.
"I mean, yes, but —"
"Think of the ham, and the macaroni...oh! And the sweet potato pie", your mother said in a singsong voice, looking down at you.
"Are you trying to bribe me with food?"
"Is it working?"
"...yes", you whined, rolling over on the carpet. You and your mom shared a short laugh, the two of you going silent. The news channel still played softly in the background, making the silence less awkward. "So when are we leaving?"
"Maybe today. Or maybe tomorrow. Whenever I'm in the mood to go", she answered with a sigh, leaning back into the couch cushions.
"We should leave as soon as possible. Since it's the holidays, I'm sure the airport will be packed and I'd rather not feel like I'm going to kill someone every few seconds." Your mom chuckled, glancing down at you once again.
"I'm glad to have my (y/n) back." You blushed softly, looking away from her as you pouted. Your mom giggled, standing from the couch. "Well, since we don't want to be caught in the crowded airport, we should get started on packing now and leave first thing in the morning tomorrow. How's that sound?" You nodded, sitting up from the floor.
"Don't forget to ask Miguel to book tickets today. That way we won't go through so much trouble once we get to the airport."
"Alright, honey", your mom hummed, making her way back to her room. You watched her disappear down the hallway, sighing shortly after. You stared up at the ceiling, lost in thought. What am I going to tell them when we get there?
