Chapter 7

"What?" I said aloud as many whispers filled the audience. "I know you're here Alyx," Colson called, "And I do want you on the team," His voice filled the air as the mutterings became more strongly worded. My friends were all surprised sure, but they gave me reassuring smiles as I walked down the stone stairs and onto the stage. Kyna smiled nicely at me and waved for me to stand next to her. When I finally stopped next to Kyna, Chiron trotted up to the stage. "Everyone!" He boomed, "Give this quest your applause and well wishes!" He began to lead us away from the cheering Minor and Creature Tier, and the grumbling Olympian and Top Tiers. "Hi!" a cheery voice said interrupting my pounding heart and panicked breathing. I turned to see the Squid, Caspian, smiling brightly at me. "I don't think we've met, hi, I'm Caspian but you can call me Cas," His smile was blinding. "Alyx," I said simply. "You're the one who had the first battle of today?" He asked. "Yes," Colson answered for me as we continued following Chiron. My eyes narrowed but I didn't say anything I just glared. I'm pretty sure it made my eyes turn from bright blue starry night sky to pitch-black since they all satisfyingly shuddered. "You're Bella's friend right?" I asked Kyna and she nodded, "Yes and what you guys did was the highlight of the entire tournament day," She added. "Wait! You're the one who hijacked the dance?!" Cas cried in surprise. David smirked at me and then I nodded. "That was cool, you Minors and Creatures sure know how to party, how come you guys never come to the dances?" Cas asked gloriously oblivious. "Ask your Sparky friend," I snapped. That shut him up and caused Colson to flinch. We stopped in front of my dorm, "Go get your armor and anything you need for a quest," Chiron said and opened my door for me. I grabbed my pile of Hecate Silver armor, a change of clothes, my bag full of ingredients, an ink well filled with black ink, and a smooth paintbrush. I stepped out of my room to find only Chiron waiting for me. "Where are the others?" I asked. "I sent them to get their stuff and to change, so you can change if you wish," Chiron explained and allowed me to step back into the dorm. I changed into black leggings, a dark blue fitted long-sleeved shirt, high black boots, and put my jacket back on. I shrugged my satchel on and hugged my armor to my chest when I stepped out to see that Kyna had returned. She was now wearing black leggings like me, and a similar indigo long-sleeved shirt to mine. There was a belt around her waist that had two sheaths each one had a Minerva Silver (the same material of the armor she was carrying) knife in it along with the two sheaths on her ankles and on her back was a leather backpack. Her brown hair was now pulled into a high ponytail. I checked in my bag for my chakram, and it was there nestled between two throwing knives, good. Colson appeared next with his sword in a sheath on his belt, on his jeans. He wore a blue and gold GHS shirt and carried his Jupiter Bronze armor at his side. Cas came next in dark green T-Shirt and jeans with a sword strapped on his back and he had blue sheened Neptune Steel armor in his arms. David only had one piece of armor when he returned. A single shoulder armor plate. I mean it was understandable, Cyclopses were practically invincible. David's armor may have been sparse but his weapons and gadgets were not. Strapped all over his red T-shirt was gadgets and weapons I didn't even know how to describe. On his belt was some blaster, and that was the extent of what I recognized. Kyna walked over to him and pulled a knife from one of his sheaths and began to examine its silver and engraved blade. David's scared expression faded as Kyna handed him back the dagger and smiled, "That's an awesome blade." David let out a sigh of relief and smiled as he accepted the blade back. "Follow me Quest members," Chiron announced, "To the Forge!" We followed Chiron through the hallways once again. We were going to the Forge of the GHS. It was where Hephaestus's automaton imprinted symbols into our shoulder dominant arm shoulder plate, and Apollo's Oracle gives us incredibly vague instructions on how to proceed with our quest or so I've heard. "Ok," Chiron stopped in front of two double Vulcan Bronze door, "You have to be prepared for vague answers from Apollo's Agent," He gave me a stern look, "Don't get frustrated." "Why are you looking at me!?" I cried getting snickers from the rest of the group. Chiron laughed and pushed the double doors open and a wave of heat exploded in our faces. We all coughed, well except for David. The room had a red glow to it, and hundreds of shelves and conveyor belts lined the wall. In the center of the room was an anvil that was about twice my size suspended over a pool of what looked like lava underneath it. A robot or, automation was standing behind the anvil. It was humanoid but had bronze metal skin with the symbol of Hephaestus burned over its chest and on its forehead was the symbol of Daedalus. "You," its creaky voice said as it pointed at Colson, "Your shoulder plate, and Zodiac sign please, Quest Leader," "Saggitarius," Colson said as he handed the automation his shoulder plate. The automation creaked as it began. We all watched intently as the symbol of Sagittarius was engraved in his shoulder plate with the symbol and the phrase, "Ηγέτης από την κορυφαία βαθμίδα," that meant "Adventure Leader of the Top Tier." "You," The automation said, "Your shoulder plate and Zodiac sign please," It repeated. He held a metal hand out to Cas who handed it his blue metal plate. "Pisces," Cas said simply. The automation pressed the Pisces symbol into the plate and the title "Κορυφαία βαθμίδα" Top Tier in Greek. It handed Cas back his plate. It took Kyna's next and pressed the Capricorn symbol and Olympian Tier in Greek, "Ολυμπιακή βαθμίδα," David got the Cancer symbol and Creature Tier in Greek, "Δημιουργία βαθμίδα," I was next. "You," The automation held his hand out to me, "Shoulder plate and Zodiac Sign please." I handed the robot the plate, "Aries," I said simply. The ram horns were engraved in my plate along with "Μικρή βαθμίδα" as you have probably guessed it's Minor Tier in Greek. We all pulled the newly engraved shoulder plates on. It felt good to have some armor back on. "You all may put all of your armor on," The Automation creaked, "Then move on to the Agent of Apollo," The Automation suddenly shut down the orange light of its eyes snuffed out. We all let out a breath I didn't realize we were all holding. "Well now that your emblems are engraved let's move on to the Oracle." Chiron shuffled us out of the room and towards a new set of doors across the hall. This time the doors were made of Apollo Gold. We stepped into the golden and silver room to find a shell of a teenager sitting on a delicate throne on a platform above us. "Apollo's Agent I have brought you, Colson of Zeus and the team he has selected," Chiron bowed low for the teen. This was it the quest had now officially begun and somehow I was a part of it.
