"Thank you for taking me to lunch," I say as I unbuckle my seatbelt.

"No problem," Freddie replies, his eyes never leaving me. "I enjoyed your company, Ms. Helgard."

I start to approach the door handle, but am stopped by Freddie's grasp on my arm. And there it was: the initial shock of electricity. In all of my twenty-one years of being on this Earth, no one has me feeling this way. Except for Mr. Businessman, himself.

"Let me." he says.

"Freddie," I chuckle, a blush creeping on my face. "I can open the door by my --"

Before I could complete the sentence, he is already on my side of the car; door opened and ready for my exit.

"Nonsense, Amanda," he says. "yer a lady. And ladies don't need to do all the heavy lifting."

I step out of the car, my backpack on my shoulders and my flowers in hand. My leftover food was in my backpack; awaiting to be consumed.

"Just yesterday I was a twat to you." I snicker. "What made you change your mind?"

"You." Freddie replies, his tone serious.

"You don't date, remember?" I smirk.

"I don't," he replies. "but I do negotiate." He removes a strand behind my ear, and looks at me in a way I can't put my finger on. Was it affection? Adoration? Dominance? He smirks. "Now, will you please forgive me for my behavior yesterday?"

"Hm..." I think out loud. "I don't know... You were pretty rude to me yesterday, Mr. Highmore."

"What will it take for you to forgive me?" Freddie presses, leaning against the car with his elbow on the roof.

I step closer to him. "Answer my question," I say, my finger dancing on his jawline. "why did you kiss me?"

He pushes himself off from leaning against the car and is now towering over me. His cologne wavers through my nose. The closeness of his body is enough to make me weak.

He leans in closer, his breath fanning against my neck. "I kissed you because I thought you were attractive." He says, now looking at me in the eye. "I still think you are."

"But you were drunk the first time, and angry the last." I reply. "You told me you were desperate."

Freddie nods. "I was," he says. "I'd fired you for two reasons: 1.) I was angry. and 2.) I want more from you."

I furrow my eyebrows, perplexed. "What do you mean more?"

His forehead is against mine now. "I want to get to know you more." He then lifts my chin with his index finger. "And if I could, I would kiss you again and again." His eyes scan at my eyes to my lips. "Will you let me?"

I was frozen, and didn't have the strength to pull away. His hold, even though it was gentle, was strong and held me still. I didn't know what came over me, but I gained the ability to speak.

"Yes." I reply. "You may."
